Things were going better than expected. Which means it was time for Fate to come and punch me and the face and bring me back to reality. Because I could never be happy.
My mom and Ted seemed to be on the up and up after her car crash. He wanted to be serious with her when he returned home from his work back to Louisiana. Since he had a teenage daughter in school who lived with his ex, he decided for them that, it was best for mom to leave her four kids and go with him. She because she is who she is, agreed. She came up with excuses and told me I would move back in with my father across town. I was upset. She was going to abandon me again. Yet again. I shouldn't have been surprised she always abandoned her kids for different men. I was heartbroken.
Though my heart was cracking I still had Spencer. We could still be together. Thinking of our relationship and they hope it gave me, made everything seem okay. The next week would be tough, but I had Spencer and his love.
I spoke to my dad and told him about mom's plans to leave, my brothers were crushed, which even led one to a depression spiral that he wouldn't come out for years. The other had a similar mindset to me and decided to drink it all away. Pretending not to care. She ruined the two of us, me and my youngest brother, giving him alcohol at the age of 12 does wonders for a young boy.
I spent time at my dad's getting everything ready to move my stuff over. I had bothered to tell Spencer yet because I wasn't leaving just moving, nothing had to change. It would make it difficult to be intimate with him like I wanted too, and we had attempted, but we could wait.
I was moving some things inside the house from the porch, my dad had taken my brothers to their baseball practices and I was here alone.
"Hey Stephanie. Been avoiding me." The voice said.
A chill went up my spine. I knew who it was. I cursed knowing the mistake I made coming here alone. The reason I didn't ever visit my dad here, or move back with him even though my mom was psychotic. Because he knew this address. Because Maddox knew of this place.
I had been soon foolish to let my guard down. So foolish to think everything was going to be okay. So foolish to believe that I could be happy. I almost believed it.
"So let's talk about your boyfriend Steph." He said.
Those words caused my the sun to crash, and my heart to stop. The demons resurfaced the minute he was near, and the minute my shining sun clouded over.
