Chapter 3

Nagyung pov

We came back for dinner and and sat in the food hall with each of us either talking, reading or playing games. The Jiwon girl kept silent with an unreadable expression. I was sat across her as we were sitting in a booth and decided to try talking to her. "Jiwon, right? So why'd you come here now? It's good it's just the second week of the school year."

She looked uncomfortable at my words which made me nervous and a bit embarrassed. "I-i'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable, I-" "O-oh no, you didn't it's just that I-i don't really want to- umm...talk about the reason too deeply." She stuttered while scratching her neck. I nodded while mouthing an 'ok' and quietly sipped my drink. The others were too engrossed in their matters to pay attention to us.

Suddenly the head mistress, Madam Choi had entered, surrounded with guards and an expensive aroma which turned the room into a tense and nervous atmosphere. "Ahem," she smiled "good evening students." "Good evening." Everyone replied motionlessly. "Today, a new student has arrived to the school. May miss Park Jiwon stand?"

I turned my head to look at Jiwon as she stood a bit nervously. "May you please introduce yourself briefly." This was a bad habit of the head mistress, wanting to know and embarrass a student infront of a hundred students. She did that with each and every one of us and ended up giving a glare to everyone as soon as we finished our sentences.

"Uhm...my name is Jiwon. My english name is Megan. I came from Busan and I'm a fairy." She smiled at the last part. "May I ask what powers you possess?" "Uhm— mind powers, language and bright laser beams." I could sense the confusion in her voice at madam's question. "What kind of a fairy are you?" "A moon fairy." As Jiwon finished her speech, I expected a glare from madam as usual, instead she smiled like never before, a soulfully yet gentle one. I rose a brow, wondering why madam acted different.

"Well then, you are very lucky you've arrived in the second week, we're just going to be practicing what we usually do and then go on to other subjects of power." She turned away and left the hall, wishing everyone a good dinner and sleep.

Later

Jiwon pov

We finished dinner and headed back to our rooms. I could feel stares from everyone on my way and when I got to the dorm. "You're different." The girl named Seoyeon crept up behind me. "You scared me!" I exclaimed. "Don't mind her, she just does that." Hayoung noted while brushing her hair.

"But she's right, you are different." Jisun stood up from her mattress. "Madam Choi never smiled at anyone before. You're the only one she's looked at with relief and assurance. It seems she may see you as the chosen one." I knitted my brows at her words.

"Come on girls," Saerom said "it's her first day and you're already pressuring her!" They all nodded then looked at me smiling sweetly. "Can you show us your abilities? If you're comfortable to, of course." Nagyung asked like a five year old begging her parents to buy chocolate. "Which one do you want me to do? Language or mind?" I smiled. "What about those cool laser beams you said?" Hayoung excitedly pounced onto the carpet with her face resting on her palms.

"Oh, uhh." I paused. "I can't control those. I only do that when I'm angry. But it's really dangerous, it can kill someone. That was part of the reason why I came here." I looked down with sorrow in my voice. "That was how my mom died."

There was silence in the room I looked up and saw the girls with apologetic looks on their faces. "Maybe you can show us tomorrow, at the SOG." Jiheon said. "SOG?" I questioned. "Stones of Glory, we practice our magic there when it comes to general practice." I nodded then we all went to bed.

I couldn't help but realise that one of the girls looked at me rather hesitantly or just glared. When I got to the room after dinner, she never spoke a word.

"Is there something going on with...

Chaeyoung?"
