Chapter 4

Jiwon pov

The next morning was my first day at this school. I already made a nice impression on the students and became friends with my dorm mates so I thought to try and be more social than I've been since the awakening of my powers.

Seven years ago

"Mom!" I screamed. "What's happening?" She rushed to me as soon as she heard my calls. My hands were glowing a bright gray which also gave a burning and painful sensation to my skin. "They've awakened!" She gasped. "Don't worry love, I'll explain everything. First try to calm yourself and release the fear and strong emotions in your body then come to our room." I followed her instructions and got rid of the light.

"Now tell me what's wrong with me!" I demanded. "Why do I have powers? Am I a superhero?!" "Calm down honey. You aren't a superhero now, but you will be in the future." She smiled. "But why do I have magic? Do you know anything?" I asked.

"Well you see," she pulled a book from her shelf, "we're not any ordinary humans, we're fairies. There are eight kinds of fairies to roam on Earth; The aquatics, the flora, the soras, the calor, the reveries, the shar, the celestes and us, the Luné."

"Our ancestors have been fighting for the greater good and to protect the Earth for centuries. Your great great great great great grandmother, Haewon was a firstborn, meaning she was one of the first beings on Earth to be here. She along with the celeste's firstborn Minhwan were the original fairies while the other six elements were known as prime fairies..." She continued this till I grew tired and fell asleep in her lap.

Present day

I had to remember some stuff of magic and things otherwise I would just be sitting around like an idiot not understanding shit. The only knowledge I had was just about fairies which was what I aimed to just learn about.

I felt too unbothered listening about the other magic beings and their powers. The school consists of 50% fairies and 50% magic beings. I wondered why the school couldn't just separate the two as we possessed completely different types of magic. Either way, I wasn't persistent in learning much but I did have friendly interactions with people and some new friends. Making friends here was a lot easier than back home. Ever since I awakened my powers, my friends drifted apart from me and leaked my secret to the whole school making everyone call me a freak and make a mockery of me.

"Okay everyone! That's a wrap up of today! Remember to practice the magic of growth and answer all the questions on your textbooks." Everyone was leaving when the teacher suddenly called me. "Jiwon, the head mistress had asked me to tell you to come to her office after class." "Oh okay." I nodded and left the room meeting a humongous crowd squishing me into the walls and between them.

It was extremely difficult to get through every one. I managed to get out but bumped into the hard back of someone. "Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry!" I apologised as I saw him face me. "Oh it's alright. Wait, you're the new girl Jiwoo right?" The boy questioned. "Jiwon." I corrected him with a smile. "Ah, sorry about that, it's nice to meet you, I'm Seojoon." He extended his hand and I gladly accepted it. "Are you going anywhere?" "I'm just going to the head mistress, she wanted to see me." "Oh well good luck with that." He laughed. "Do you need me to show you where it is?" "Oh no, I'm good. I have a map." I smiled. "Well, I hope she isn't scary, goodbye!" He waved and left.

I arrived at the office. It looked more old fashioned than whole school itself. I knocked on the door with a short "come in" after. The inside made me feel a bit dizzy with the scent of eight different candles and the millions of books on the walls. "You wanted to see me?" The ginormous chair spun facing me. "You are the one." She boldly said. I stood there confused. "You'll confuse her, you'll trick her, you'll defeat her." She continued her words while fidgeting with her pen and averting her gaze around the place.

"What are you talking about?" I asked still being confused. "Jiwon, you must know, that we've been waiting for you  and you've arrived just on time." She walked to me and gripped my shoulders. "I'm so confused, just get to the point!" I said. "Jiwon, you. You are the solution. You're going to defeat the dark fairy. You...
