liara watched as aang went to end the firelord's life with a combination of the elements.
her heart was stuck in her throat, but it almost skipped a beat when aang didn't kill the firelord then and there.
Liara turned around, embarrassed for herself. aang had so much more of a pure heart than she did. he didn't even kill the most evil man in the world, for the world. she was selfish.
suki had finished bandaging sokka up, so liara was next.
reluctantly, liara laid down on the floor and suki gave her a rag to bite onto, as she held a bottle of liquor for the goal of disinfecting the wound.
the airbender let out a strained groan as the liquid was poured over her side, she contemplated her entire existence in that moment.
it burned like hell, but at least that meant that it was working.
after it was done, suki tightly wrapped a bandage around liara's torso, to make sure that the bleeding slowed and eventually stopped.
"the cut is pretty deep, but if you see katara soon, we won't have to worry about it too much," the kyoshi warrior told the injured girl, who nodded.
suddenly, there was blue and red light in the sky, overlapping each other.
Liara stood almost too quickly to get a better look.
the red light began overtaking the blue, and that's when liara finally saw it, aang and ozai standing by each other.
the red light grew exponentially, almost snuffing out the blue light, but when she almost lost her hope, the blue light overtook the red entirely, removing the red light.
then it was gone. the lights, the strange sounds, everything. aang weakly stepped away from the firelord.
sokka steered the ship forward and landed it near aang and ozai.
the water tribe boy, suki and toph all ran out of the ship while liara took her time to shuffle out of the ship. she had begun to bleed through her bandages but that wasn't what worried her.
she was now even more afraid because the battle was over and she had to face the truth in it's ugliness.
"you should have seen it! you were all like," sokka proceeded to make explosion noises with large hand movements. "and the firelord was all like," he then groaned and gagged with a fearful look.
Liara was stood on the far side of the rock, watching her friends revel in their victory.
"so did you.... finish the job?" suki asked, pointing at ozai, who looked up at her, "I'm still alive." the man seethe, causing suki to jump back.
Liara walked closer to the man as aang spoke, "I took his bending away."
"wow, who taught you that?" toph inquired.
"a giant lion turtle. "
Liara looked up at aang, their eyes meeting for the first time since she told him the truth, and when she noticed his grin falling apon seeing her bandaged side, she looked away, placing her hand over the wound to hide it.
"I guess the loser lord deserved this." sokka said, looking at ozai while he heard liara snicker. "yup, loser lord ozai of humiliation nation." she tainted.
"humili-nation, if you will." sokka added.
the two of them fist-bumped.
ozai tried to pick himself up, "I am the phoenix king," he seethed before falling on his face.
