"hello? can anyone hear me? aang! katara! sokka!" she yelled through the fog. all of the trees had disappeared a while ago.
she was almost entirely sure that she was now in the fog of lost souls. in the spirit world. she didn't know what to do, so she just continued to call out to her friends.
"zuko! appa?"
it was no use. she didn't have her glider, so she couldn't just fly out of this place.
"i got you now, you little rat."
whipping around to the sound of an oddly familiar voice, liara shrieked when she saw the fire bender she thought she had killed so long ago.
a flame lit the man's hand and he hurled it at the girl, causing her to yelp and jump out if the way, dodging the flame by a hair.
"get back here!" he yelled after her as she backed up. "no! I killed you a hundred and two years ago! you're not real!"
'murderer!' she heard all around her.
murderer!
murderer!
murderer!
another flame was thrown her way and Liara ran away as fast as her legs could take her.
murderer!
murderer!
as she looked back to make sure that the firebender wasn't following her, she slammed right into a large, built body and landed flat on her bum on the floor.
"ow!" she yelped.
"jinora?"
"no, who the hell is..." liara froze upon looking up, she was staring right at a man, probably around the age of fourty or fifty. he looked just like aang.
"aang?" she questioned, getting to her feet. "how long have I been... in here? why are you so old?"
tenzin stared down at the girl, his stormy grey eyes trying to comprehend if he was really seeing his fifteen year old mother before his very eyes, or if she was a figment of his imagination.
"im not aang," the man told liara, "I'm... kei." he lied, thinking of the butterfly effect. but he realised that he was right in what he said, he wasn't aang. he was tenzin.
"how long have you been in here?"
Liara looked at the man strangely, did he not know about the time thing?
"I dunno," liara scratched the back of her head, looking around. "it feels like an hour or two, maybe, but in the prison, time is relative and overlaps. so it's hard to tell."
she then eyed the man up and down. "what's an air nomad doing in a spirit prison? you don't really look like the type to have spirit-worthy crimes like some of the other guys I've seen."
"I'm looking for my daughter, brother and sister. they got a little lost on our... uh.. trip to the spirit world." tenzin cringed. he was a terrible liar.
"i see." liara nodded. "I can help you find them, and we can all get out of this place together."
throwing her arms out to her sides, liara hissed, "crud. I can't bend."
Liara and tenzin wandered through the foggy prison together, and the first person they found was a little girl dressed in the training uniform probably ten or eleven "jinora," tenzin said, wiggling her shoulder.
Liara stopped the man and knelt in front of the girl. she had a strange idea. "jinora, it's time wake up." the girl then proceeded to place her pointer finger in the middle of jinora's forehead, just like yao always did.
