liara tiredly hobbled out of the palace and into the courtyard early the next morning.
she looked ready, but she was still yawning and rubbing her eyes.
"good morning, li! it's a beautiful day for a trip, isn't it?" liara groan-hummed, still groggy. aang smiled at her as she sloppily airbended herself into appa's head beside aang.
he petted her hair as she laid face down in the bison's fur.
"remember, we have to keep an eye on Azula." aang told his girlfriend who finally sat up and scowled at said firebender below.
how dare she be evil and rid liara of extra sleep?
after everyone boarded appa, they left for hira'a. once they were in the open sky, sokka let out a breath of joy.
"the open sky above us, friends all around and a daring mission in front of us. Just like old times."
"yep," liara agreed tiredly, leaning on aamg's shoulder. he kissed her head.
"too bad toph couldn't be here," the airbender girl said, looking back towards the rest of the group. "I miss the jokes."
"yeah, but now we have... Azula."
Liara's eyes norrowed. the sleep stealer.
"so, tell me. which of you miscreants did she approach first?" liara grimaced. she really was crazy.
"what are you talking about?" katara wondered as Azula spring up from her position, "none of you have even met me yet! how did she convince you to ruin my life!"
spirits.
just before liara stood up to knock her out, zuko lifted his heated fist, "enough." Azula quickly calmed. "relax, zuzu. I'm just making small talk."
Liara cringed. if that was small talk, she didn't want to see a light argument.
~
Liara was woken up by zuko's voice. "I think that's hira'a up ahead."
sitting up slowly and rubbing her eyes, liara looked around and saw a small village in the nook of a hill, with a slightly foggy forest next to it.
"we should make camp before sunset. I don't want to enter the place like a gang of bandits."
Liara yawned, "that's fair. but we should stay from the forest for now." she said, recalling yao's words. she looked over at aang and yelped with surprise, almost falling off of appa.
he had a sour expression on his face, with a crazy look in his eyes. it caught her off guard.
"jeez aang, we have enough problems with one crazy-eyes passenger." sokka said, as he had also gotten startled by the boy's face.
"i can't help it, I sense some kind of spirit, especially in my face."
Liara and zuko looked at each other and shared the same thought.
the mother of faces.
Liara looked back at her boyfriend, who was looking down at the ground. "woah! did you guys see that giant wolf spirit? maybe that's what I'm sensing."
"there's nothing there?" zuko stated, causing liara to look down as well.
she saw it, alright, and she got a bad feeling in the pits of her stomach. she didn't like this. something was going to go wrong.
"Azula! get down from there!" zuko said suddenly.
"get down? more like shove her off." sokka joked, sharing a fist bump with liara.
"it's been a pleasure riding with you all, now that hira'a is a hop, skip and a jump away, I'll be going. I'll be sure to give her your regards."
she then proceeded to jump off of appa at three hundred feet in the air, like a lunatic
aang quickly reacted and swooped down to catch her, but she burned his glider and began running away.
Liara was irritated now, and she grabbed her staff, jumping down from appa. "you guys check on aang, I'll get azula." zuko said as he ran after his sister. "I'm coming too. that bunsen burner is getting her karma." the airbender said.
the two of them followed azula together and as she screamed at the river, liara jumped over and smacked the princess in the neck with her staff, knocking her out.
"that's for trying to light my boyfriend on fire"
as she looked back, she froze, as did the others. the wold spirit stood behind sokka, eerily staring at the group of teenagers.
the wolf then tried to bite sokka's head off, and Liara sent a gust of wind to the spirit, sending it back a few steps.
aang tried to resolve the situation using respect, but that didn't seem to work, so team avatar attacked it with their bending.
and it ate zuko's fire and proceeded to puke out moth wasps.
they were all up in everyone's faces but while the rest of the group was distracted, they circled around liara and began lifting her up.
she struggled and tried to scream, but some moth wasps entered her mouth to keep her quiet.
she kept kicking and struggling against the little spirits for a few minutes until they dropped her in the dirt.
sitting up and removing the random leaf from her face, liara looked around her.
it was foggy, with some trees here an there, she quickly realize that she was in the forest. the very dangerous forest.
the airbender stood and tried to walk out, but the fog only got thicker.
she heard a voice near her.
"i am zhao the conqueror. the moon slayer! I will capture the avatar!" liara turned to see a firenation man dressed in war armour walking around.
his hair was dishevelled and falling out of it's topknot.
she shivered.
how strange.
