Veiled Vendetta

CHAPTER FIFTEEN

Upon entering the lobby, the girls found the guys already engrossed in conversation. Nina nestled next to Blake, while the others settled in around them. Izzy made her way to sit beside Luiz. Chris and Vivian's group also arrived, finding their spot nearby. Jay, observing Chris's injuries, remarked, 'Chris seems to be accumulating quite a few noticeable injuries lately.' Jade dismissed it, 'Probably just another fight, Jay. None of our business.'

Not wanting much attention, Izzy headed to the vending machine for a drink. Struggling to open the bottle, she was about to use her clothes when Luiz stepped in, taking the bottle and easily unscrewing the cap. The others noticed, and Evy teased, 'You two look like a couple now.' Alex nodded in agreement. Izzy, feeling her cheeks warm up, took a sip from her drink, while Luiz seemed unfazed by the comment.

Izzy sat on the sofa in her apartment, the twins were in front of their computers working. She looked at them and said, 'Guys, tell all the people in the W City not to recognize or greet me when I walk around. Either you guys or the police can do the patrol, I won't do it anymore.' The twins looked at her and GD asked, 'Why?' Izzy replied, 'I am pretty sure the people from the rival company will probably send their guys to figure out who is managing the city. I don't want them to know it's me.' The guys nodded and immediately sent out the orders to everyone. I then asked, 'Did you guys get any information on the Avenue?' GD replied, 'Yeah, their CEO, his name is Robert Anderson.' Izzy looked at them and said, 'That's it?' The twins nodded.

Izzy was walking in the city, the darkness accentuated by the glow of shop lights and street lamps. Lost in thought about her next moves, she inadvertently bumped into someone. When she looked up, it was none other than her seniors, Vivian and Chris. Vivian, preoccupied, scolded, 'Watch where you're going!' Chris, recognizing Izzy, added, 'It's our junior, Izzy.' Finally focusing on Izzy, Vivian acknowledged her with an 'Oh, Izzy.' Unsure of what to do, Izzy just smiled. Sensing an opportunity to leave, Izzy politely said, 'Seniors, I have some errands to run, can I go?' Vivian, however, flashed a smile, responding, 'Why so quick? Let's chat.' Then, she gestured for Izzy to follow.

They found themselves in an alleyway, and Izzy surveyed the confined space, realizing her limited options. Her eyes flickered towards a hidden camera, hoping the twins would spot her through it; otherwise, she'd have to manage the current situation herself. Vivian, inquired, 'Why do you hang out with those rich, spoiled kids, Izzy? They might have wealth, but they lack power. My dad has influence. Join us, and we'll make sure nobody messes with you.' Izzy maintained a smile, replying, 'Senior, as much as I appreciate your company, Nina and the others were the first to approach me, and I genuinely like them. Besides, I'm from a well-off family too, aren't I?' Chris interjected, 'Vivian, hurry it up.' Vivian continued, 'It's a shame we can't get along better. I wanted to look out for you.' Izzy, holding her ground, responded, 'You already have Summer, and being the principal's daughter, you don't need me.' Despite Vivian walking closer, Izzy remained firm.

As the tense situation unfolded, a male voice interrupted, addressing Chris. It was Izzy's friends, Grey, Kira, and some other guys, who seemed to be Grey's acquaintances. Izzy gestured covertly towards them, silently signaling for help. Grey, perceiving Izzy's indications, stepped in and addressed Chris amicably, saying, 'Chris, my friend, what brings you here?' Izzy, relying on Grey's understanding, signified her desire to be rescued. Catching her signal, Grey responded, 'Let's hang out, Chris.' Chris, visibly uneasy, was unable to refuse in front of Grey and the others. Vivian, trying to maintain control, suggested, 'Let's spend time together, Izzy.' Izzy, firm in her stance, reminded Vivian and Chris of their recent agreement, stating, 'These are Chris's friends, and you're his girlfriend. We've established we're not friends.' Izzy walked away from the alley but paused by Grey and Kira, whispering discreetly, 'Take care of Chris and let Kira handle Vivian. Teach him a lesson in front of his girlfriend.' She ensured that Chris and Vivian couldn't overhear her, then departed for her apartment.

The moment Izzy reached her apartment, she swiftly settled in front of the CCTV system and directed the camera to focus on the alley where the incident had taken place. The live feed showed Grey and his companions catching up to Chris, who was being subjected to a barrage of kicks and blows, while Kira was seen confronting Vivian in another corner, delivering slaps. Vivian, in a state of distress, repeatedly called out to Chris, who was enduring the physical assault. Suddenly, the twins entered the room. Izzy glanced at them and inquired, 'So, you guys saw me?' JD responded, 'GD was monitoring you.' GD interjected, 'Just curious about what you were doing, Izzy.' JD continued, 'We saw you signaling for help, so we called Grey since they were also nearby.' Izzy commended their quick thinking and then asked, 'Do you want to join me and watch?'
