I did regret not coming home sooner. It ate me up everyday. But, I held a lot of resentment for my mom. I don't know why she thought sending me away was the best option. I'm still gay, and that's something she can't change.
Just like Bey promised, she came back. Last night was one of the best days I've had in a long time.
I let the pine cones hit my window three times like yesterday. I got up and went to the window. I smiled seeing my beautiful girl there. She came alone. I climbed out of the window then ran to her.
She had a flower in her hand. "For my lady." She smiled and passed it to me. I blushed and kissed her cheek. "Thank you very much."
Bey pulled me towards her house. "Close your eyes! Don't peak!" She covered them, standing behind me. She guided me to the back patio.
"On three. One, two, three!" She removed her hands and I gasped. She had the table set all nicely and two plates of breakfast. There was fruit and also some sort of pastry. "I asked my mom if we could have our first date. And I know I can't take you far so why not a backyard date?" Beyonce looked at me.
I walked towards the table in awe. I really fell for the right person.
Beyonce walked to me slowly. She allowed me to enjoy the scenery. I hugged her tight and gave her a big kiss. "You're the best!"
We sat down and said our blessing before eating. It was nice to have this moment with her. The only bad thing was that we were on a time crunch.
"You know.. ever since you left. I had been really sad. Mama almost sent me to the looney bin. So I had to tighten up. I might think I'm off my rocker but those are some real crazy people in there."
I frowned. It made me sad to think about how she's been suffering. "Aw, Beyonce. I'm so sorry." I grabbed her hand. She shrugged. "I guess it's fine. I mean- not really. But, y'know." I sighed.
"I love you, Beyonce. I want to start coming back home on the weekends so I can see you, okay? I don't want you feeling like that again." I swear I was about to cry. The thought of Beyonce never being in my life again always did that. But this was under a different light, and it made me even more emotional.
"Wait, don't cry, Oni." She cupped my face. "I'm okay! I'm still here and I'm so happy that you're back. It's all okay." She caressed my cheeks gently.
"I just don't ever want to lose you, Bey." I blinked my tears away. She pecked my nose a few times, causing me to smile. "There's my pretty smile." She cooed.
I wiped away the salty tears that managed to fall then we continued on with our meal.
"Do you think you'll be home for my birthday this year? I want to spend my sweet sixteen with you. I'll make sure to celebrate that weekend so you have the chance to come." She smiled wide. Noticing her dimple, I kissed it.
"I really hope so. I don't want to be stuck at that place honestly. It's not fun.. at all." "What's it like?"
"Hm. Well, it's full of bad ass kids. A couple of wannabe thugs. Waving around their phones like it's a gun and faking shooting stuff. Butts hanging out their uniform pants." I gagged.
"I hate that! I know they feel that breeze on that ass. I don't see how you did it, NiNi." Beyonce cackled and so did I.
"Don't even get me started, Bey. I was trying to be like Wayne and Drake sooo bad." I shook my head. "I miss them though. They taught me a lot. Especially about the girls." I smirked.
Beyonce rolled her eyes. "Chill out, I'll make mama drive those three hours to come pop you."
I sucked my teeth then shoved her gently. "I'm not talking about other girls. I only took tips for my girl."
"As you should." She flipped her hair. "I have a question though." She started. "Shoot."
"The night.. the night you got shot. What happened?" She looked into my eyes. That night was something I was trying to forget. But I knew at some point, I'd have to face it. Along with Bey.
"Well, the only reason I went was because I knew you were there. Wayne had told me about the party and I agreed to go. So, when we got there.. I honestly was scared. I hadn't been to a big party like that before. So I clung onto the boys. Then, I was told that boys who were hosting it didn't like Wayne for reasons.. and that they're trouble makers. I know about their antics but I didn't think things would go down that night.
When I saw you there.. might I add, in your skimpy outfit that you definitely didn't get permission to wear out.. I was stuck. I wasn't worried about that." I bit my lip.
"Then you know Megan.. that's how I met her. At the party. While we were chilling, that's when shots fired. I wasn't worried about her life. Nor mine. I was worried about you. Megan and I left as fast as we could but I still got hit. Right in my arm. That was definitely one of the worst times in my life. I really hated everything about life.
My mom damn near beat my ass everyday for going to that party. You were with Robyn too so I was even more depressed. I was wishing that bulled hit me in my chest than my heart for real.. sorry. That was dark." I looked at Beyonce and saw that she was crying. I hugged her and rubbed her back.
"But um- that's what pretty much happened. I got this tattoo to cover up the scar. That thing is so ugly." I lifted my sleeve up to show her. Noticing that it was in another language, she furrowed her brows. "What does it mean?" She asked.
"It means "God is always with you.". I firmly believe that he was that night because anything could've happened to me." I explained.
She caressed the ink on my arm and nodded. "That's beautiful, NiNi."
After finishing eating, we talked more before we realized I had to go home soon. We walked as slow as we could, but also with a little speed, just in case. Making it back to the side of the house, I sighed. I took her hands in mine before reaching up to kiss her.
"I love you, Beyonce. Thank you for being the best person on Earth to me. You have my heart." I confessed.
"And I love you, Onika. Thank you for continuing to love me through all we've been through. I can't wait until we get out of this situation and then you can be with me forever." She leaned forward and our lips connected.
We let our lips and touches linger before pulling away. She slid her hoodie off and gave it me. "I purposely wore this plain one so you could have it and wear it all the time without questions from the Wicked Witch Carol." She joked and I laughed, sliding on the warm material.
"Thank you, Bey." I kissed her cheek before going back to my window. I climbed through it then waved to her. She waved back before jogging back to her yard. I sighed contently, leaning against the cold glass as I reminisced my weekend.
I couldn't wait for Friday.
