𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝟬𝟯𝟯 :: peace
"i wanna stay here forever."
"me too," luke ran his thumb in circles over joey's hands. the sun had sunk low behind them, illuminating the sky is pastel hues. the pair laid on loungers, staring across the great wide open. joey had used her towel to cocoon herself as twilight came. it was covered in sand but she didn't mind. the moment was too tranquil to be caught up minor annoyances.
"joey, i want to ask you something."
"go ahead."
"do you want to move in with me?"
the soft crash of a wave called out. they could hear a bird singing in the breeze. nothing could stop her answer from being so quick and confident
"absolutely."
luke put his first two fingers around her wrist. "you're sure?"
"i love every second im with you. why wouldn't i want to live with you?"
the pair continued to gaze as the ocean frothed and peeled at the sand line. the water rippled, slowly dragging away from them. luke drew away also, rising from the lounger. he reached out to joey, dragging her up and towards the sea. they went from soft sand to the wet mush and straight into the cool waters. it rose up, from her ankles to her knees and rising over her waist. just as luke slowed, he puta hand on her shoulder and pushed until she lost her balance.
"hey!" she yelled as saltwater flew around her. it sprayed into her mouth and all over luke. she was quick to level out over the water and to drag the taller man down with her. joey couldn't ignore luke's giddy laughter.
they stayed in the water together for a while, playing like little kids. joey spent most of the time making calculated splashes that drenched luke. eventually, the sun sunk so far that the only light was from the hotel still. joey felt his arms wrapping around her body, carrying her back to the beach.
"this is like some scene from baywatch," she muttered, pressing into his shoulder a little.
"you're so right," luke laughed, "at least i get to do it with you."
