CHAPTER SIX

I closed my locker and made my way towards Maths. Stupid Mr Williams had to give me a detention. I walked into his classroom and he smirked at me. "Hey Rachel," he said standing up.

"I still hate you for giving me a detention." He laughed and pulled a chair to his desk.

"Come on, I'll help you with your homework." I sat down beside him and took out my homework. "All you have to do is label the sides and then put them into the formula." He said while going through the first question.

After he worked through the first example he looked at me. "Do you understand it?"

"Absolutely none of it," he nodded and went to go through the second question but the bell rang. Lucky enough I was in Maths next period.

"Right, how about after school today I can go through it with you?" I nodded and tidied up my books. "How about we do tutoring every Thursday, Monday and Tuesday? I know you're good at Maths, but you just take a while to get there, and we don't have enough time this year. Since you're not coming back next year you need the best grades you can get." I smiled at him and nodded.

"Yeah that would be great." He smiled as I put my books on my table.

"So my room after school?" I nodded and sat down in my chair, just as people started walking in.

I grabbed my books from my locker before heading to Maths. Once I got to Mr Williams' door, I heard him talking to someone. I sat down beside his door and waited for them to stop talking. "I don't see what your problem is." Someone said to Mr Williams.

"You do know what my problem is. You know I was waiting until June." I knew that was what Mr Williams said. I felt kind of bad that I was sitting here while he was talking, but he did say his room after school.

"Well you can't just expect me to stay away because you're waiting to do something."

"I have to wait, I have no other choice." Mr Williams said annoyed, and I've known him long enough to know when he's really annoyed.

"Well tough, you can't just sit around expecting things to be the same in seven months. You're going to have to deal with it." The door opened and I saw Sean storm down the corridor. What, Sean, I am pretty confused. I stood up and walked to his door. I saw Mr Williams sitting his chair with his hands over his face. I knocked his door and his head snapped to me.

"Are you okay? Will I come back tomorrow?" He shook his head and signalled me in.

"No it's okay. I said today after school, so let's get started then." He stood up and grabbed a pen and some paper. I sat down beside him at the table and took out my textbook. He sighed and opened the textbook. "So how much did you get in class?" He asked while taking off his jacket and unbuttoning his top button.

"Not a lot. I can remember one of the Circle Theorems you taught us." He nodded and started drawing circles on the page.

"Right okay, so this one is the easiest and comes up most often." I nodded and followed his examples.

*

"Do you understand it?" He looked at me and I shook my head. "Right, okay. Well it is the hardest one so it doesn't really matter."

"But if it's the hardest one, surely it will be the one worth the most marks?" He sat back in the chair and turned to face me.

"It is, but it rarely comes up. But we'll have plenty of time to go over it before the exams." I nodded and closed my textbook. "We'll go over some stuff on Monday after school. For now just keep looking over the questions and the examples, okay?" I nodded and he stood up. "I'll just run into the storeroom and get you a paper to do over the weekend. I'll be back in a sec," I nodded and stood up, as he walked into the store. I packed up my stuff and waited for Williams to come back. "Here you go," he handed me a paper when he came back and I put it in my bag. "Do as much as you can for Monday." I nodded and put my bag over my shoulder.
