"just one more question" hyunjin contained his yawn as he grabbed his pencil again and returned his attention to the equations.
The sudden soft knocks ok his door made him groan in frustration, as he was so close to finishing the assignment.
"Hyung?" A low, yet somewhat deep voice called him from the other end, and hyunjin gulped at the voice that came looking for him.
The drowsiness started evading slowly from his body as he approached his door with heavy steps. A tinge of excitement filled his system as the pounding in his heart grew with each step that he took.
He's not allowed to feel this way, he's his brother for crying out loud, a step brother as a matter of fact. But that doesn't make it any less illicit.
"Hyung" he exclaims while holding up the book in his hand as hyunjin opened his door. He was half hoping that hyunjin wouldn't be asleep, but he decided to knock the door when he noticed that the lights hadn't gone out.
"Hey" hyunjin spoke up, inviting him in his room, letting him settle on one of the chairs by his study table.
"It's geometry" he pointed his finger at the book, he brought with him. Hyunjin's eyes grew with excitement as he eagerly nodded his head. It was his favourite subject after all, something he was naturally good at.
So he pulled his chair and scooted close to jeongin, still managing to leave a decent amount of gap between them two.
For some reason, jeongin remained quiet the whole time, hyunjin never remembered him looking that dejected since the day he met him. So, hyunjin had to give his tutoring a break, to focus on the kid.
"Hey, are you okay?" Jeongin shifted his graze to hyunjin at the sudden question, but his expression remained the same. Hyunjin knew something was off.
"It's nothing" he brushed it off at first, knowing very well that hyunjin wouldn't let it go till he got to the bottom of it.
"We haven't been spending much time together like before. I don't know what changed-"
"You wanna know what it is?" His brother jumped in with his stern voice, pulling his chair closer to hyunjin's, leaving no gap between the legs of the chairs.
Hyunjin tried to push himself back a little, but jeongin's firm grip on his chair disabled any further movement.
"Am i-" he swallowed back the words he was meaning to say to hyunjin ever since the day their parents got married. But he didn't wanna ruin the chances of the little interactions happening between the two of them.
And now if he said something, he'd be crossing the line.
But jeongin didn't want to turn his relationship to anything awkward. So, before he spoke too much, he got off his seat, grabbing his book and headed to the door, leaving hyunjin a confused mess in his seat.
"Innie, wait" hyunjin walked behind him a few seconds later. As he grabbed the knob of his door, hyunjin pushed his body between the doot and him, holding on to jeongin's arms and looking at him with worried eyes.
"Please tell me what's going on. You've been acting distant lately and i can't stand this anymore" hyunjin blurted out without really intending to.
Jeongin hung his head low, letting out a deep sigh. "Can i cross the line?" His stare darkening, the kind of look, hyunjin had never seem him wear.
"Wha-" hyunjin had through breathing all of a sudden. A few seconds passed and neither of them spoke a word.
A part of hyunjin was washed with relief, knowing that they both wanted the same thing since day one. But another part of him was filled with guilt.
Hyunjin was forced to say no, push him away, talk him back into his senses, scold him as his elder brother for carrying inappropriate thoughts in his head.
They'd both of punished by their parents if they found out, maybe even separated from each other. And hyunjin wasn't exactly the type who was good at keeping secrets.
His mother barely even smile at him when he showed her his score reports, a 'difficult woman to please' as quoted by his biological father.
And the same went with jeongin's father, a match made in heaven, he thought when he found out that they were getting married.
However, things stayed the same between him and jeongin. Though on papers, they were step siblings, that didn't really bother him. What scared him was how his mother would react if she ever found out.
But with jeongin caging him between his arms and the door, hyunjin wanted to give on to his sinful pleasures. For some reason, the thought of being in a forbidden love excited him.
"You can" hyunjin smiled at him, making jeongin blink, his eyes in wonder.
It took jeongin a couple seconds to realize that hyunjin actually meant it, and if he really meant it.
"Can i?" He asked again as he caught his hand close to hyunjin's face, brushing it gently across his cheek. Hyunjin nodded as a knot was forming in his belly and he couldn't wait to feel jeeongin on himself anymore.
What started out as a gentle peck soon turned into a passionate kiss, one that made hyunjin understand that they longed for eachother ever since the day they first met.
Hyunjin played with his soft hair and his hands made it's way to jeongin's chest. "God, you're so buff, stop going to the gym" hyunjin spoke into the kiss, at which jeongin chuckled lightly.
However, the sudden knock on his door made the two of them stop and gasp for air (they had gone inside and locked the door as they weren't going to take any risks). Hyunjin's heart was beating faster now as he exchanged looks with jeongin. He looked just as baffled as him, but nodded soon enough, asking hyunjin to open it.
It was his mom, and she looked anything but happy to find the two of them sharing the same space.
"What are you doing in his room at this time of the night?" Questioned the lady.
"Oh, homework!" Jeongin spoke as he showed her the book in his hand "thanks for helping me out, we'll pick it up tomorrow from where we left, okay?" Jeongin turned to hyunjin and winked before leaving his room.
Hyunjin blushed at his comment but quickly got rid of it as his mom could notice it. She didn't say anything much, but definitely gabe him the look before walking out of his room.
As hyunjin closed the door, he exhaled a huge puff and plopped down on his bed. He turned off the lights and opened his phone to set the alarm his eyes quickly moving to the message he just received.

Hyunjin smiled yet again after being able to find peace in a long time
'thanks for being a part of my life' hyunjin typed but quickly deleted, realising how cheesy that just sounded, leaving his message at a 'read'
"Good night" was all he could say, not letting his emotions get the best of him.
Hyunjin soon fell into a slumber, while replying the scenes from earlier. He knew there was more to come, the thought of which put a smile on his face.
