We were able to sit comfortably in our returned fantasy for a few days before Lando begun getting ready for the Chinese Grand Prix, and I fell comfortably into the background.

I actually loved watching him from a distance, every now and again gaining a little look accompanied with a slight smirk when he had a chance. He made his way around the garage with an ease an a confidence I hadn't really witnessed. Up until I surprised him at the Australian Grand Prix, I didn't really know "Lando the Formula 1 driver", our entire history consisted of him off the track. But as I stand in the back of the garage, watching him with his engineers and strategy team, I realise there is this whole other part to him that I do not know.

Once I gain his attention through eye contact, I signal to him that I'm just going to step out the back, I noticed some food vans around before when we entered, but I'm also just curious to take in the atmosphere of the entire thing.

Once I step out clear of the garage, I pull my phone from my pocket, finding Jade's contact and selecting it before holding the device up to my ear, scanning my surroundings to get my bearings.

"I was beginning to think you forgot all about me" She answers after only a few rings.

"Never" I chuckle, "I'm sorry, we've just been so busy trying to squeeze everything into the past few days".

"When you say "we" I assume things between you and Lando are going well?" She coos with excitement.

I can't help but smile, "Yeah, it's actually gone really well. I'm with him at the track today, they have practise on for the Chinese Grand Prix later on this afternoon"

"How do you like the track? Think you can get used to it?" She mocks.

Just as I'm about to answer the sound of roaring engine takes me by surprise and I jump a little, "Uhh, yeah, I think so" I chuckle with a dramatic painful tone to my voice.

"Are you okay?" She asks.

"Yeah? Why would you ask?" I'm a little taken back by the tone in her question.

"Have you been online at all?" She asks and I immediately know what it's about.

"I've seen bits here and there but I try not to let it worry me too much" I confide in her.

Truthfully, watching a mass of people talk about me as if they know me personally online was a little tougher to swallow than I first initially thought, but given that it was something Lando brought up to me, I didn't want to admit it was going to be an issue.

"You know they are just jealous, right? They are envious of what you have with Lando" she tries to reassure me.

"I know, honestly it's fine. It'll all blow over soon I'm sure" I gush.

"Excuse me? Are you Baylee?" I hear the question from behind me.

Turning to see a gorgeous, blonde, thin, tanned girl standing in front of me, wearing a McLaren top with Lando's number plastered all over it, I got a gut instinct that this won't end well.

"Jade, I'll call you back in a minute" I inform her, not waiting for a response before I hang up with my thumb, sliding the phone down from my ear.

"Yeah, I am" I smile, hoping to rid this horrible feeling.

Her eyes take me in, trolling down the length of my body with the most judgemental glare to them.

"Thought as much" she snarls.

"Sorry, can I help you with something?" I ask, trying my best to keep my tone light.

"Word is you've stalked Lando over to China, I didn't think you'd be that desperate, yet here you are" she accuses.

I feel my jaw drop, and I don't wish to point out the hypocrisy in her accusation.

"I'm sorry" I ask her, only really to give myself the hesitation I need to think of a decent reply.

"What makes you think Lando is interested in you?" She asks, her perfectly manicured fingers tossing back the GHD curled bleached hair over her fake tanned shoulder.

I want to hold my ground, not cower to these people, I want to be confident and strong, but I also have no idea how to fight if it gets physical, and I'm hoping that my bark will be big enough that I don't need to follow it up with a bite.

"I seemed to get a pretty decent idea of how he felt about me last night in bed" I sass.

"You think you're the only girl he's sleeping with?" She chuckles, her eyes roaming me again, "You really are as pathetic as they say"

I swallow the lump in my throat, the one that is begging me to back down.

"Am I suppose to know who you are? Since you clearly know me?" I ask her.

She sneers, "You don't need to know me. All you need to know is that your boyfriend does".

I have no reason to believe a word coming out of this girls mouth, but I'm insecure, so I'd be lying if I didn't immediately have doubts.

She begins tapping through her phone, a proud yet cunning smirk to her face.

"Gave me pretty decent ideas a few nights ago too" she flips the phone in my direction. A picture of her smiling at the blurred camera, Lando nestled in the crook of her neck, looking like alcohol was the main player in that game.

My lips curl in on themselves, my eyes darting from the image, up to meet her gaze.

"What are you trying to prove?" I ask her.

She lets out a breathily chuckle, tucking the phone back into what I can only presume is a knock off Gucci. "That I don't want you thinking you're special. You're just part of the line up. You need to learn your place, and get in line, there's a hierarchy when it comes to these things. And you." Her eyes judge me fully again, this time disgust filling her gaze, "You don't even compare"

And with that, she flicks her hair around as she spins away from me, throwing me one last look as she enters the back of the McLaren garage.
