Charlie's perched happily in Nick's lap, a plate piled high with buttered toast that he and Nick are sharing, two steaming mugs full of peppermint tea on the coffee table.
"You know, it's a good thing you two kissed and made up," Polly says from the loveseat. "It would have been really fucking awkward if you two weren't talking when you came down here."
"Thanks, Polly," Nick says dryly, as everyone else in the room bursts out laughing. "Really nice to have your support."
"Shut up, you're talking over the fucking film," Claire snaps. "You made friends, happy days, let's not talk over Shrek meeting Donkey for the first time, yeah?"And that's how they spend the rest of the day, curled up together, trading lazy kisses between sharing bags of crisps and endless cups of tea until their hangovers all dissipate.
Life doesn't get much better than this.
