Jason looked at the girl in the corner of his eye. The girl seemed to look afraid, nervous, and anxious. He decided to comfort her. "Hey," he said, but still paying attention to the road, "You okay?"

She brushed a couple of her blonde strands back. "Um, yeah, I'm fine--LOOK OUT!" She screamed and he turned back to the road as a truck was just heading my direction. He quickly swerved to the right, the opposite of the way towards the gym. His heart was pounding loudly in his chest and he could hear her panting. He smirked. "Now are you okay?"

"Yeah, fine," the girl said. He couldn't help but detect the slight hint of sarcasm in her voice.

He wanted her to say no, so they could talk about it as he parked at a nearby restaurant--Chick-Fil-A, he immediately decided--and then they could become friends. More than anything, he had the desirable urge to just hold her hand, feel her soft skin. As he looked back at the girl, he saw something he didn't see before, a slight bruise on the full right side of her face. Did the fall make her get a bruise? But he remembered she fell on her backside. He remembered how she winced and almost cried. What was wrong with her? Did she have a soft body?

Suddenly, his engine started acting up. "Oh shit, not again," he cursed as his engine completely failed him. "Damn it," he said. Thank God he parked on the side of the road last minute. He turned to the girl. "I'm Jason," he held out a hand. He knew this would be weird, but he didn't want to frighten the girl anymore. The girl smiled, or it seemed like it. "Hailey," she answered and shook his hand. He was right. Her hand was so soft, and he wanted to grasp it a little bit longer, but didn't want to seem weird.

"Um, yeah, I'll be right back, I gotta call someone," he said and went outside. Her puzzled expression was too much to take before he made her flip the fuck out.

He fetched a cigarette from his back pocket and lit it, taking in and letting out a few puffs at a time. He felt his pocket for his iPhone and took it out, dialing the only person he knew that could fix a damn vehicle in the middle of nowhere.

"Samuel Car Services, how may I help you?"

Jason chuckled. "Really, Sam? You know it's me."

Sam chuckled. "I know, I jut like messing with ya, bro. So what happened? Wait, let me guess. Was it you engine?"

Jason stayed silent, unleashing many profanities in his head. Sam loved to mess with him.

Sam took that beat of silence as a yes. "Bro, you need to fix that damn engine of yours. I always tell you to bring it in, but you never do. Tell you what, since you my main nigga, I'll let you come in for free. Capisce?"

Jason chuckled at his Hispanic friend's weird manner. He was Latino, but always spoke Italian, in a bad accent. He said it "digs the ladies". Jason answered, "Sam, I need you now. Look, I got a girl--"

Once he said that, he knew it was a mistake. Sam chuckled. "Oooh! My boy's got a girl!"

Jason groaned as Sam chuckled again. "How is she like? Is she one of those sluts that run after your dick like a chewtoy? Or is she the mysterious type, looking for the perfect person to share her secrets with? Or is she the typical, everyday dumb blonde, always looking for a good time?"

Jason rolled his eyes. "Sam, she needed my help and--"

"Has anything happened yet?"

"Bro, are you high? Look, I just met her--"

"Does she look nice to fuck? Or hardcore?"

"SAM! I'm fucking pissed, and she is looking at me like I'm crazy! I need you because my fucking engine broke! Now can you get over here and fucking help me?"

Sam was silent. "Okay, dude, chill. I'll be there in five, wait, where are you?"

"Near that gym.....uh, World Gym! One block away from it."

"Oh okay, Imma be there soon. Bye, boyfriend!"

Jason chuckled. His friend couldn't go one full minute being serious.

"We were never dating," Jason said. But jokingly, he added, "Girlfriend."

Sam chuckled. "See? Why are you denying it, when it's obvious you have the hots for me!"

Jason rolled his eyes but grinned. "Later," he said and ended the call. He turned back to the girl--Hailey.

"My friend's gonna be here in a few minutes. Why don't I explain what's going on?"

Hailey replied, "You better."
