Jason drove home ten minutes after Hailey had left. After Sam had fixed his engine, they did their regular fist bump an parted ways.

"Dude, we really need to go out somewhere and have fun. Go to a bar or somethin'." Jason recalled Sam saying as they were about to leave.

Jason nodded and chuckled. "I really need to get laid." By Hailey, he thought to himself.

Sam nodded. "It's a plan. Meet you there.....this Saturday?"

Jason nodded and opened his car door. As he got inside, he gave Sam a wave as Sam drove off. Sam winked at him and mouthed the words "bye bye girlfriend". Jason rolled his eyes.

He drove home, and all he could think about was Hailey.

When Hailey opened the door to her front house, she heard the television and her dad laughing. What was he watching that was so funny?, she thought to herself. But she didn't want to find out. She remembered what happened when she snooped on her dad....

She walked up the stairs and went straight to her room. On her bed, was her phone where she left it. Her dad had a strict rule that said she couldn't bring her phone to school.

She turned her phone on and instantly saw three new messages from Sarah.

5:45 PM- hey hailey , r u there ?

5:48 PM- haileyy !

5:52 PM- HAILEY! I HAVE SOMETHING IMPORTANT TO TELL YOU!!

6:00 PM- hailey , you said you would text me . wtf . oh shit maybe your dad has your phone . nvm then bye .

Hailey shook her head. Was Sarah that bored? Hailey texted her back.

6:42 PM- Lol, hey Sarah. Sorry I'm late, this guy, Jason, gave me a ride home. His engine failed halfway there so his friend Sam helped us. But I just walked home the rest of the way because I didn't want dad getting suspicious.

Three seconds later, her phone vibrated. Hailey laughed. She knew Sarah was really bored.

6:42 PM- hailey...? did you just say JASON? as in JASON REED ? hold up , let me double check . i know you don't pay attention to much stuff , hailey , but jason is like the "bad boy" . he plays football , skips class , and is a player . you know jessica maxwell , right ? they just broke up....so don't tell me you have feelings for him....

Hailey reread her text. Twice. Jason Reed? Her Jason? He went to West? Millions of questions swarmed in her mind. She knew Jessica, oh she knew her. Jessica always made fun of Hailey, teased her and humiliated her. One year, they were giving out awards in the yearbook, like "nicest person in the school". Jessica was in the yearbook club and she have her the award "flattest chest in the school". She didn't know why Jessica held a grudge on her.

At that moment, she decided Jason was off limits. But she recalled, she didn't see Jessica anywhere this morning. Where was she? Was it because of the breakup?

She texted Sarah.

6:43 PM- When did they break up?

Sarah instantly replied.

6:43 PM- uh , yesterday , i think , idk . why?

Hailey thought that made sense. Yesterday, Jessica changed her shampoo with shaving cream at gym. And she was surprised she didn't pull a stunt today.

Hailey replied.

6:44 PM- I'm asking because did you notice that Jessica wasn't here today?

Ding! Right after she sent her message, her ringtone chimed. She checked her phone.

6:44 PM- no.....wait now that i think about it , yeah ! i mean , i don't really think anyone missed her bitchyness ( if that's a word ) lol .

Hailey agreed. A day without Jessica was like a day without homework. Or a day without messy hair.

Her stomach rumbled. Hailey decided to go get a snack.

6:45 PM- Gtg, gonna go get a snack. Ttyl.

Sarah replied.

6:45- why can't you text me while you eat ? ik you don't like getting your screen dirty , but i sacrifice things for you ! for example : i'm basically feeding you info about your new lover ! so .... but anyway, to pay me back we better go to mcd for lunch tmrw . but anyway , bye 👋

Hailey felt kinda guilty for leaving her friend like that, but she had no choice. She hated it when her phone had fingerprints of orange powder while she was eating Cheetos and texting at the same time.

She replied with an "okay, I'll go to McDonald's I promise and bye".

Then she went downstairs to get a snack. She was craving a peanut butter banana sandwich. And some Cheetos.
