Jason's gripped the steering wheel tightly, like it was his life line as he drove to Hailey's house. Today was the day he was going to keep Hailey safe. Today was the day he was going to keep her with him forever.

There was no doubt about it. He loved her.

After all this bullshit is over, he was gonna call Sam and update him on everything. And, oh boy, was there a lot to tell Sam.

Jason had asked Hailey a million times if she was okay with it. All she did was nod, although her face was very, very pale. Almost like vampire pale.

Of course, Jason would be lyong if he said he wasn't worried sick about her. She refused to eat breakfast this morning and didn't speak at all. Maybe it was because she was nervouse.....?

Then he thought of Sam. He wished he could call Sam and ask him what he thought so bad....

But Sam was the type of guy who wanted to know the full thing, or else he couldn't or wouldn't answer.

What would Sam say? He thoght to himself as he passed the familiar roads to Hailey's house. He thought of all the conversation's he'd had with Sam about Hailey.

"How is she like? Is she one of those sluts that run after your dick like a chewtoy? Or is she the mysterious type, looking for the perfect person to share her secrets with? Or is she the typical, everyday dumb blonde, always looking for a good time?"

The mysterious type.

She was the mysterious type.

She had secrets. And she needed to tell someone.

As Jason neared her neighborhood, he looked at Hailey from the rear mirror.

She was pale and looking out the window, her head leaned against it.

"Hey Hailey?" Jason said, catching Hailey's attention. Hailey's eyes met his on the mirror and he smirked at her. "After all this shit is over, you tell me about you, and I'll tell you about me. Then, I'll start treating you like the real, true girlfriend that you are."

He saw Hailey look down into her lap and blushed. Jason smirked to himself. If only she knew how turned on he got when she was embarrassed.

Finally, they arrived at her house. Jason parked the car on their clean looking driveway and turned off the ignition.

He turned to Hailey. Holding her hand and staring right into her eyes, he said, "Hailey. Everything will be alright, okay? I will protect you, I swear."

He saw Hailey visible relax and helped her get out of the car.

He gripped her hand, tightly, but not to tightly. "Ready?" He asked her. This time, she smiled, which visibly shocked Jason. "Heck yeah, I've been waiting for this day since forever. I can't wait to tell Sarah."

Jason kissed her, lightly. When he pulled away, Hailey's face was glowing. "C'mon," he said, and, holding hands, they both walked towards the house.

-

On the outside, Hailey was excited, and buzzy and joyful.

On the inside, Hailey was a wreck.

She had told Jason the truth: how she couldn't wait for this day. She could wait.

She thought it would be better if she just lived with Jason instead of just reporting her dad. She wanted to just leave her dad alone.

But it seemed like Jason really, really wanted to do this.

So why didn't she?

Oh. Of course. She was afraid. What would happen to her father after the police found out he killed her mother by abuse, and started abusing his own daughter?

As all the memories came back to her, Hailey was filled inside of her, and something deep inside of her told her this the right thing to do.

When they reached the door, it swung open before Hailey could even ring the doorbell.

She was greeted with a gunshot. The exact same way her father killed her mother.
