It's been a couple years since Natalie Sharp, 21, has seen her cousin Neil. She has pretty much accepted the fact that Neil has been gone, and she finally realized why Neil has disappeared a couple years back. It wasn't because he was kidnapped or murdered, it was because he was transformed into a sentient object.

It was during class when she's been noticing the diminishing size of the class, with each meeting, there are less and less people sitting in class. She even noticed that Paula wasn't here anymore, did they get to her too?

Natalie was stood corrected when Tamara came up and told her, "I haven't told you yesterday, but Paula is attending online classes now because of what Trish and Leslie did to the rest of our classmates. She doesn't feel safe around here anymore. She'll come back as soon as this shitshow is over, and all I wanted to do was get myself started on my YouTube channel where I game and stuff."
"It's not safe anymore?" Natalie asked, "If Paula is being paranoid about what is happening, doesn't help that girl had lost her girlfriend a few weeks back, then why are we still attending college? When our very lives, erm, humanity is in grave danger here!"
"Yeah, about it not being safe anymore, I am glad that Paula has found alternative ways to get her education and still retain her humanity. But hiding from both Trish and Leslie isn't going to bring back the ones we've lost. I have heard that people are in hiding because of the incidents." Preston added.
"So, are we going to cower in fear because of multiple incidents happening within the past few weeks?" Natalie asked.
"No, we shouldn't, we've got to learn how to-" Preston began.
"Fight?! Are you crazy?! Knowing them two, they'd get to you before you even have a chance to fight and then what? You're forced inside a sentient object's body for the rest of your life and you are even robbed of your original identity?! Not a risk worth taking that's for sure." Natalie panicked, aware of the risks that may happen if they all decided to band together and fight, "Maybe Paula is right, running away and hiding would be a better option than fighting."
"That's sounds pretty cowardly if you ask me." Sam interjected.
"Who says anything about cowardice, I say it is self-preservation!" Natalie argued.
"Preston's got a point here. We can't just stand here and accept our fates of becoming an object." Sam replied.
"Agreed." Tara interjected.
"You too, Tara? You're all crazy, Trish and Leslie would wind up transforming you anyways, regardless of what you do! So, the best you can do us enjoy being a human while you still can and don't take your humanity for granted." Natalie replied.
"N-not all of us can fight two people who have tools to take us down... though, hiding was always a great option... better than taking them head on.." Noah nervously chuckled, "We rather enjoy our last moments as human beings, sorry."
"Well, sounds cowardly coming from you!" Sam shouted.
"Yeah, you're willing to go down without standing your ground?" Tara asked.
"Yes. Natalie and I have already accepted the facts, we cannot risk ourselves quicker by fighting back..." Noah replied.
The arguments persisted until Professor Picard entered the classroom, silence filling the room and everyone parking their asses to their seats.

"Alright, everyone, Paula is no longer attending in person due to certain circumstances, something having to do with the disappearances. So, she'd be attending class online from now on, so, this class is being recorded for her sake since she doesn't want to see Trish." Professor Picard announced.
"Pfft! What a coward she is, thinking that she can hide from us and run from herself rising to a higher lifeform?" Trish snickered, thinking to herself.
"Trish, this is not funny, Paula is gone because of the damned disappearances! Attending here has been hell since Mackenzie and Loki had disappeared!" Reina shouted.
"Alright, calm down and I should begin my lecture. Remember, the speakers are sensitive to sound, so don't say anything you'd regret." Professor Picard hushed the entire class.
