Holiday special :D
No trigger warnings!
"Ready?" Omega excitedly said, tugging on Hunter's arm. He gave her an amused smile and let her lead him down the hallways.
"Ready for what?" Hunter questioned.
"I am also curious as to what this surprise is." Tech adjusted his crooked goggles. "Even with my high intelligence, I haven't been able to figure out what it is."
"Then it must be absolutely mind-blowing." Crosshair flicked a toothpick from one side of his mouth to the other.
"Come on!" Omega whined, pushing them into the main living area.
Presents littered the ground, bright colours of wrapping paper greeting them. A sign hung from the ceiling with messy writing that read: Happy birthday!
"What's this?" Wrecker frowned, rubbing the back of his head. "Did someone break in?"
"No, silly!" Omega giggled. "I did this for you!"
"Why?" Echo questioned, seemingly at a loss for words.
Omega shyly smiled. "You've never had a birthday party before, so I wanted you to have a special day. Rex helped me hang the banner. He didn't want me going on the ladder."
Hunter chuckled and made a mental note to thank the blonde man. "This is very sweet, Omega."
"So you like it?" Omega eagerly asked.
"We love it." Hunter beamed down at her.
Omega cheered and handed out gifts, happily watching as her brothers tore into them. In the end everyone was pleasantly surprised with the thoughtful presents they had received.
"Thank you, Omega," Hunter softly said as he tied his new bandana to his head. It was somehow the exact same as his previous one, minus the charred ends and holes.
"Yes, we appreciate it very much." Tech awkwardly patted her head, unused to much physical affection. "Truly."
"I love it!" Wrecker exclaimed, proudly holding up the new explosive he had received.
"Is it armed?" Echo worriedly asked, eyeing the actual bomb in their living quarters.
Wrecker pressed a button. "No."
Echo narrowed his eyes. "Did you just turn it off?"
Wrecker sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck. "Uh, no?"
"Please refrain from killing us all," Tech requested. "If would put a downer on an occasion such as this."
"Go do your chores," Hunter instructed, ending the fun. "There's still stuff to do."
Omega nodded and skipped off, happily humming to herself. Crosshair gave Hunter a questioning look, wondering why he dismissed Omega after she did something so nice for them.
"We have to do something in return!" Hunter panicked. "Or she'll think we don't care!"
"That's ridiculous. Our love for her doesn't depend on gifts." Echo scoffed. "She knows that."
"But still..." Hunter hesitated.
"You want to throw her a party, don't you?" Echo sighed.
"But it has to be a long time away so she doesn't think we're just doing it in return of this one!" Hunter began to pace with his hands behind his back.
"But isn't that what we are doing?" Crosshair raised an eyebrow.
"But she can't know that! It'll make it less special for her!" Hunter said, as if it was obvious. "Quick, what's an occasion we can plan the party about?"
"Er- The anniversary Nala Se's death is coming up?" Echo pursed his lips.
"That's probably inappropriate," Hunter said, running a hand through his hair. "And we already celebrate that every year, so it takes the specialness out of it."
"Omega's birthday?" Wrecker suggested.
"We can't just copy her!" Hunter glared at Wrecker.
"Life day is in a month," Tech stated.
Hunter pointed at Tech. "There. That's what we'll do. Okay, let's start planning."
"We have something to show you!" Wrecker practically dragged Omega out of her bunk.
Omega rubbed at her eyes and yawned. "This early?" She checked the time. "The sun hasn't even risen yet!"
"I thought we agreed to let her sleep in?" Echo looked on in amusement.
"I couldn't wait any longer!" Wrecker gave another tug, hauling Omega out the door.
"Wait for what?" Omega questioned as Wrecker covered her eyes with his hands.
Hunter crossed his arms, sighing. "Alright, Wrecker. Let her see."
Wrecker took his hands away and shouted, "Ta daaa!"
Omega blinked a couple times as her eyes adjusted to the light before gasping. "Wow!"
Lights hung from the ceiling and decorated a tree they had somehow stuffed into the corner of the room. Wrapped presents were under the tree with giant bows atop them.
"What's this for?" Omega curiously asked.
"Life Day!" Wrecker exclaimed.
"We wanted to give you a party," Echo said, handing her a gift.
"Technically Life Day is a Wookie holiday, but we thought this might be nice anyway. We are also not in possession of the Tree of Life, but we didn't let that stop us." Tech stared at the flora in their living room. "I'm still wondering how we managed to get that through the doorway."
"I did most of the work," Crosshair grumbled. He had leaves sticking out of his hair and sap covering his face. "Why did I do most of the lifting? Wrecker has the strength."
"Wrecker was distracted fighting off the animal that lived in that tree," Hunter reminded him.
"Oh yeah!" Wrecker flexed, showing off the scratches on his arms. "And I won!"
Omega smiled as she watched them. "Can I open this now?"
"Of course," Hunter said.
Omega excitedly tore into it, revealing a new clone trooper doll. "Thank you!"
"This one next." Crosshair nudged another package with his foot.
Omega opened the one he had motioned to, eyes shining in excitement after the gift inside was resting in her hands. "It's paint!"
"You can paint this trooper too," Echo told her, using his scomp to lift its arm.
So they spent the rest of the evening having a merry time, until the discovered something.
The animal in the tree had a family.
Happy holidays!
