Maria awoke to an empty hospital room, a singular flashing light lit the room dimly. She stared at the table, adorned by multiple cards, balloons, teddy bears and flowers.

She heard a faint sound erupting from down the hall. She decided to investigate, placing her feet flat on the cold tile floor, pulling the needles out of her arms.

She slowly peeked her head out of the room, slowly moving out and down the hall, following the sound as it grew louder.

She came to a room that looked familiar. It was her old childhood room. It confused her slightly how she managed to transition to her room, only just having been in the hospital.

She inspected the room, seeing all her childhood teddys and play toys. She looked over to the cot, Sensing a presence. A gentle hum of coos came from the cot.

Curiously, she moved over to the cot, glancing over the barrier. There lay a baby. Not a random baby either. The child looked like her, but it wasn't her. It's nose and eyes reminded her of Ethan's.

She reached down, caressing the baby's cheek. It's tiny fingers wrapped around her large one, grabbing a hold of it causing her to crack a smile.

Soon everything started fading. All the toys and the drawer faded into a out of darkness. The floor below her also faded away. She glanced at the baby once more before falling into a pit of darkness.

"She's waking up!"

"Maria!"

"Babygirl!"

"My beautiful baby!"

Maria's eyes fluttered open upon hearing the familiar voices of her loved ones. Their bodies were a blur, yet she could make out everyone that was there. Her Mom, Ethan, Fabiola and Eleanor.

Ethan immediately ran to her side, kneeling down and looking over her body for any marks.

"Are you okay?" He looked at her with concerned eyes. She nodded, the feeling in her throat burning.

"Thank goodness" her mother spoke, placing her hand to her heart.

"What happened?!" Eleanor eagerly asked. Maria furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, trying to go over the previous event that occurred.

"I don't know, I guess I just... Felt sick and then I passed out" she shrugged. Just then a nurse came in, alerting everyone that visiting hours were over. Once everyone left, the nurse stayed behind.

"Hey hun, I just have to ask a few questions, for safety and such" she told her, pulling out a clipboard. Maria nodded in understanding.

"Have you been feeling... Sick lately?" She paused, waiting for Maria's answer. As far as Maria knew, she didn't carry any sickness.

"No, not lately. Just a few head spins here and there" the nurse nodded, scribbling on her clip board.

"And any mood swings? Nothing like that?" Maria stopped. She bit her lip as she remembered the emotions she felt while thinking about Ethan possibly cheating on her.

"Kind of? I don't really express it but I have been thinking of it lately" the nurse nodded, returning to scribbling on her clipboard.

"Has stress made you feel uneasy recently?" Maria reluctantly nodded.

"What's your... Sex life like?" She slowly came up to the question. Maria looked at her with a sour expression.

"I have a boyfriend so... Just that guy?" She answered reluctantly.

"How often?" The nurse put the pen to her lips, narrowing her eyes at the girl.

"Like once... " she trailed off, staring at the nurse who gave her a look that said 'be honest' causing her to sigh and continue.

"Twice... Three times... A week" the nurse sighed, placing her clipboard down on the bed.

"Oh honey... I don't wanna break it to you but..." She trails off, kissing her teeth, making Maria more anxious.

"You're pregnant"

Who would've guessed? I tried hinting it in the last chapter but that was like, very subtle🤷‍♀️
