Arriving at their local ramen shop that sells cheap yet delicious food, the two sat down and ordered with their dishes arriving swiftly since the place isn't as busy as it usually is.
With the steamy bowl now placed in front of him, he stared into the soup and saw his reflection that sparked up a memory of how he used to come here whenever he was short on money so he could make ends meet.
"Why did things suddenly take a turn for the better in a blink of an eye?": He asked himself.
"I've been in pain ever since mom left, and its been years, so why now?": he questioned.
"(M/N)? Are you alright? Is there something wrong with the food? I mean it does seem quite bland today.": Jaehyun asked.
"Thats right...bland.": he thought before looking back up around him, seeing the customers around whom are mostly single night shift workers with worn out expressions as they slurped on the noodles thinking on how they could save most of what they have to make ends meet.
"I was part of them wasn't I? I'm nothing special, I don't have a good looking face nor a fit body, no personality or smart. I'm just bland, made to fit in with soceity. I was just a normal person struggling to live on just like everyone elsr here. So why did things suddenly turn out like this? Why is everything suddenly turning better for me? Do I even deserve this?": he starts doubting, breaths heavy.
"(M/N)? Are you not feeling well?": Jaehyun asked in worry.
"Hyung.....I feel like I don't deserve it.": he mumbled out.
"Deserve what (M/N)?"
"All these- these things you bought for me and Jun, the hospitality you've given us, the time, effort, a-and the care you've given me....I can't. I don't deserve it hyung. None of it.": he stood up.
"What do you mean you don't? Of course you do. Its my choice I took you in.": Jaehyun answered.
"If I did then your parents wouldn't have shunned me and looked at me like im some mold in the house. I'm sorry for holding on thinking that I can be the one for you but I'm not fit to be your mate hyung, not one part of it.": he said with tears in his eyes.
"Wait- (M/N)!": Jaehyun tried to stop him.
"I'm sorry, I have to go now-": he said, not giving the older a chance as he abruptly left the shop in hurried steps.
Calling a cab home, his phone kept vibrating from the amount of calls and messages he was receiving from the worried alpha but he ignored them all the way until he arrived home.
Unlocking the door, he quietly retreated to his room and thanked himself that he had asked his uncle to let Jun sleep with them for the night or else he would've been bombarded with questions as to why he looks like a mess now.
Peeling his jacket off and didn't bother to take a shower as he really doesn't feel like it at the moment, he laid face down onto the bed before burying a pillow into his face and let the tears fall.
How stupid could he have been? Thinking he could somehow fit into a family of millionaires like a missing puzzle piece and be mated to an alpha that looked straight out of every women's fantasy.
Allowing himself to drown into his sorrow and thoughts, he eventually fell asleep when there were no more tears left to cry. He just hopes his expressions doesn't get too obvious tomorrow or there will be questions thrown at him.
----
"Your still as dumb as ever aren't you?": he heard a voice all too familiar call out.Panickly looking around, he looks around his surroundings and found himself back at the apartment he used to live in.
