(Y/n)'s POV
The last time I had a nightmare was when Rin reminded me of my family.
Those could be kittens compared to tonight.
It was horrifying. I was in a bloodstained hallway.
Follow the blood. a voice in my head said.
I did as I was told. I followed the blood as far as I could go.
Then I saw something.
"Hello?" I tried calling out, but I couldn't speak.
Maybe it's Rin! I thought happily.
So I started running down the hallway.
Then I froze.
It wasn't Rin, but...
Aero was chained up, her flesh brutally ripped from her body.
It explains the blood in the hallway.
Tears fell from my eyes.
"Oh my god... Aero! Aero!" I cried out.
Keep going.
I looked to my right.
Bloodstained hallway.
I looked to my left.
Clean, clear hallway.
I would've died to go down the left hallway.
I turned toward the blood and walked forward, tears streaming down my cheeks.
"Oh, Aero..." I sobbed quietly.
I came to another clearing and stopping, taking the risk of looking up.
It made my heart nearly stop.
"V-Vale..." I whispered.
Why was this happening?
Wait. If Aero and Vale were ripped to shreds...
RIN! I thought anxiously.
I followed the blood, not caring about the fact that this was a nightmare.
In fact, I didn't even realize it.
"Rin! Rin! Rin! Where are you?!" I screamed, sorrow and fear consuming the sound of my voice, making me sound like I was hurt.
"Please be ok..." I whispered.
I stopped, knowing that this was the end of the line.
I peered up.
"(Y/n)?!"
"RIN!" I felt a surge of happiness, but it quickly faded.
Basically, it looked like someone dipped a paint roller in Rin's blood and painted the room.
And he looked torn up.
"Rin! It'll be alright! I promise! I'll-" I tried to assure him, but I was tackled.
"A new victim..." I felt a knife to my skin.
"(Y/N)!" Rin called out, "Dammit, leave her alone!"
"You're asking to die?"
"I would die for her."
"Alright, hero boy." the figure, obviously female, threw the knife at Rin.
It vanished. Actually, it disintegrated in blue flames.
"What? Crap, you're the son of Satan!"
"Yeah, so..." the chains that were holding him caught on the same flames, "Let her go!"
He dropped to the ground, Kurikara appearing out of nowhere. The girl was gone.
"(Y/n)!" he slipped his hand into mine, "Wait, hold up, Rin. I gotta remember. It's just a dream." he said to himself.
It's just a dream? A nightmare?
I pinched my hand.
Nothing.
I bit my hand until it bled.
Nothing.
It really is a dream.
Aero and Vale are still alive.
Right?
I started to panic.
"Rin? Are Aero and Vale alive? Are they ok?"
"I don't know. I'm still dreaming."
He's dreaming?
What?
~A short, awesome time skip~
I woke up screaming.
"(Y/n)! (Y/n)! It's alright! It was a nightmare!"
I opened my eyes to look at Aero. Her luminous blue hair framed her small, pale complexion perfectly. Her teal-like green eyes were filled with mischief and curiosity. She had pointy ears and fangs, just like Rin. Her tail was wagging slightly, a sign of worry.
She was actually quite pretty, now that I take a good look at her.
"(Y/n)? Are you ok? I told Vale to wake up Rin, who didn't even wake to you crying and screaming."
"Sounds like Rin, that's for sure..."
"(Y/n)?! Are you alright?!" Rin burst through the door, wiping drool off of his face.
"Yeah... I'm fine."
"You sure?"
"Yes. I just had a dream... A really bad nightmare..."
Rin stared at me.
"What?"
"..."
"Oh great. The silent treatment again, huh?"
Yep. Rin does this all the time. He gives me the silent treatment when he either wants to mess with me, he's embarrassed, or it's something serious.
Judging by the look he's giving me, it's serious.
"Hey, Aero, Vale? Could you head to my dorm for a few minutes?"
"Ok." Aero obeyed instantly.
Vale, on the other hand, hesitated.
"Is it a good idea to leave you two alone together?"
I, understanding what he meant, felt the heat rise to my face.
"Vale!" I exclaimed.
He grinned.
"I know what you mean now, Rin." he left.
I shot Rin a questioning look, my face still red.
He smiled.
"Good... Wait... VALE!" he shouted, turning somewhat pink.
I laughed.
"(Y/n)." I abruptly stopped and looked into his enticing blue eyes, "Can you tell me what your dream was about?"
