21. Blue Flames

Suddenly, my blue flames exploded out of the water.

I realized that I had people who I needed to protect.

Yukio, Vale, Aero.

(Y/n).

"Rin! Rin!" I looked toward the source to see Kurikara in Aero's hand, unsheathed.

The girl who looked like (y/n) growled.

"You-" Aero's eyes glowed a velvet color, and the girl screamed in pain.

"Get away. And never come back." Aero said darkly.

"Not... So... Fast..." she smirked and pressed a button, which released demons.

I jumped up and filled the room with blue flames, killing them all.

Then I ran to (y/n).

"(Y/n)! No!" there was a pool of blood around her, and I didn't know what to do.

"Rin..." she whispered weakly.

Suddenly, I was stabbed from behind.

"Damn... You..." the lookalike mumbled, then burst into velvet flames.

I knew then that there was a way to save (y/n).

But because I was just stabbed, I'd probably end up dying in the process.

"(Y/n). I'm going to give you my flames."

"No. Let yourself heal first! I'll live!"

"Whether you like it or not, you're going to get them!"

"No-" before she could say anything more, I put my hands on her stomach carefully and shot out flames.

"RIN! No! Please, no!"

I felt myself becoming dizzy.

"Rin! Stop!"

Then I was human, and I fell backwards.

(Y/n)'s POV

"Rin! Oh my god, Rin!"

I got up, my wound healing quickly, to be by Rin's side.

Then I felt for a pulse.

My heart broke into pieces.

"No..."

"(Y/n)!" Aero came running up to me, "Your necklace!"

"Does it matter now?" I growled.

"Yes! Infuse the flames he gave you with his blood!"

I looked at her sharply.

"I would need blood from when he was a demon."

"Here!" she took off the vial and handed it to me.

The cut on his hand. The unknown substance.

Rin put his own blood in my necklace.

Tears kept falling from my eyes.

"Rin... Rin, please don't leave me..." I whispered as I made sure I put as much of his flames in the bottle as I could.

Then I held it to his lips, which were turning cold.

With shaky hands, I poured the blood into his mouth.

Then I waited.

Please wake up, Rin.

"Rin, please. I need you," I sobbed, gently laying my head on his chest, "Rin Okumura! Wake up! Please! I need you! I love you too much to lose you like this!" I screamed.

Then...

Nothing.

I narrowed my eyes and snatched Kurikara from Aero.

"What are you-"

Before she could say anything else, I stabbed it deeply into my hand.

"(Y/n)!" by now, Yukio and Vale were coming to their senses and realizing what had happened.

I put my bleeding hand to his mouth and made sure that the last of his flames were with my blood.

"Please work..." I mumbled.

When I waited a few minutes and nothing happened, I began to cry uncontrollably and held his cold hand tightly.

"Rin..."

Everyone gathered around me, tears in their eyes.

"Rin, don't leave us. Please. I'll do anything."

"(Y/n)?"

"Please, leave me alone for a bit."

They obliged and left.

I held Rin's hand tightly.

"How dare you save me without saving yourself... What do you think I'll do now? You dummy..."

I closed my eyes and cried more than I ever had in my entire life.

"Hey, (y/n)? You're cutting off circulation in my hand."

"Shut up. I'll hold it as tight as I want."

"Fine, but if I end up dying again, it's your fault, not mine."

"Shut up and leave me alone, Ri-"

My eyes opened slowly and I turned to look at his face.

His bright blue eyes looked back.

"R-R-Rin!" I smiled sadly, "I can't believe it! It worked! You're alive!"

"I can't believe that I was actually able to give you my flames."

"Well, they're still yours, since I gave them back."

He frowned and sat up, a mistake.

I hugged him tightly.

"Don't ever do that again, got it?"

"I do what I want."

We stood up and started walking out of this cursed room, hand in hand.

Wait! It's not over yet!
I know it sounds like an end, but there's still more to be discovered!
Also, I know the whole infusing the flames with blood thing was confusing, but I was out of ideas.
Again.
*Sigh*
