Darkpaw gulped as she peeked up through the entrance of the foxhole. She heard a growl, but it was too deep to be a cat's. Darkpaw slowly turned around, and before her stood a huge dog. It was big, fluffy, had pointed ears, and looked too vicious to belong to a twoleg. The black dog let out an ear-splitting hooooowl !!
The wolf lunged for Darkpaw. while it was mid-leap, she ran behind it, scratching its underbelly, and landing perfectly in position. Hisss! She pounced, landing on its back, claws outstretched. The dog tripped. "Hiss of, fox-face!" Mousepaw was out of shock, and helping his sister. "Yeeeow!" A silver grey cat came crashing down on the black wolf." Whispymoon!" She was clawing the wolf's ears. "I couldn't let Mouspaw come out here alone." The wolf bucked up on its rear legs, throwing Darkpaw off, Whispymoon only clung harder. The wolf howled, high pitched and shrieking of pain.
"What about your kits!" What if Whispymoon didn't com home. "They will be safe with Krestelwing, now FIGHT!"
They clawed and tripped the wolf, but it kept getting back up. "Whispymoon!" It was Krestelflight. With a patrol of warriors! "Viperstrike, Foxshadow, take the left flank, Flowerbreeze, Dapplewhisker, right flank. Krestelflight, help Whispymoon and Darkpaw. Mousepaw, go to Berryleaf, you need that treated. NOW!" Sharpstone and Jacklestar were taking over where Mousepaw left off, tripping the wolf, trying to get at its soft underbelly. A rustling in the bushes caught all their attention, for a second, everything was quiet. GrrrrrrrrrHooooooooowl! Another black wolf, smaller than the first, and bleeding from the brambles came crashing through the undergrowth. "StarClan Help us!"
Darkpaw felt a new strength, despite the new threat. Go, now, you must fight! Mapleshade was right, she couldn't win unless she fought. Ans so she did. She was the first to break the silence, charging at the second wolf. It ran, she chased. Not even caring if her clanmates were with her, she trampled through the woods, closing the gap with each heartbeat. Her body pumped with adrenaline, rage, fear and ambition, she chased the wolf until she knew it would never come back. Darkpaw stopped. Where am I? Hiss! "Get off this territory. NOW!" She ran back the way she came.
"Darkpaw, where were you! You missed the part where Krestelflight was riding the wolf it was awesome!"
"Oh yeah, i took on that other wolf. Single-pawd!" Hey, what about me? Mapleshade growled jokingly.
-Koipaw's P.O.V-
He heard a howl, just as he realized Darkpaw was going out. Alone. "Mousepaw. You have to help Darkpaw! She's gone out alone!"
Mousepaw's head poked up. "Now on my paws. Stay here." He got up and shakily crawled out. "I don't really have a choice."
It seemed that the screams and screeches never ended. The wolf howled and its paws thumped so hard, it shook his hiding spot. "He's in here." Koipaw heard Mousepaw leading a cat down the burrow. It was Berryleaf. "We thik his leg is broken." Mousepaw explained. "It is, indeed. How did you know to use comfrey?" "Oh that was darkpaw, she asked some cat for help, and she just knew what to do." There was a long pause. "Ouch!" Berryleaf was poking his leg, even though he was gentile, it still hurt ALOT! "Mousepaw, go find me a thick stick about this long, and some cobwebs. I will apply another coat of this and wrap it up." The night stretched on. Berryleaf left once in a wile to check for injuries, he hear Dakpaw screech so loud his ears rang. He hoped she was okay. Berryleaf had put a coat of comfey on Koipaw's leg, then a layer of some type of leaf, then, he had created a splint and a sling to keep his les steady. Koipaw could still walk on three legs, but he couldn't help the warriors fight.
When it was nearly dawn, he heard Jacklestar declare victory. "The wolves are no longer a threat to LeafClan.
