Chapter 22 : My Kid Is A Badass.

                                                                                   Ever 

     "Luke?" 

I called out to my blonde haired mate, rolling over to smack my hand against the side of his face. He groaned and grabbed my hand, smacking it back onto the pillows. 

"Everrrrrr." 

"Don't groan at me. It's your turn to draw the bath." 

  Ever since Amber was old enough to go to school, Luke and I had made it a habit to spend as much time together as possible. After my break down at Christmas, we decided that we needed each other more now that Amber was in the picture. 

"Peach or lavender?" 

I was sitting on the edge of the sink, swinging my legs back and forth while Luke filled the tub. 

"Peach. Marina or Lana?" 

"Lana. Or better yet, just shuffle my playlist." 

Half way into making bubble beards, Poppy knocked on my door. 

"One second Pops!" 

I grabbed my robe and walked out to see Poppy, who was holding a small box in her hands. 

"Amber wanted me to give this to you. I told her it was Father's Day today, so she picked up this." 

"Thank you Poppy." 

I watched Poppy retreat and opened the small box, and I was crying instantly. Inside was a necklace that said : I may find my prince, but my daddy will always be my king. 

"I bought it obviously, she picked it out though." 

I handed it to look, who didn't even look at it and just hooked it around his slender neck, smiling at me. Luke's smile always took my breath away, the way his eyes crinkled made my heart race. 

-Two Hours Later-

As I lifted myself out of the bath, I heard my phone ring from my room. Rushing to answer it, I noticed it was the number for the school nurse. Assuming the worst, I cursed and called Luke into the room. 

"Hello this is Ever Hemmings, can I help you?" 

Luke didn't comment on my use of his last name, he just smiled and slid his hand into my empty one, squeezing it lovingly. 

"Mrs. Hemmings, this is Anna Lucy the nurse. I have Amber here with me, with a broken nose." 

I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose. Luke looked at me, worry pooling in his eyes. 

"She got into a fight with another student because she was picking on a girl with two fathers." 

"Who was it? The one she got in a fight with." 

"Raine Hood." 

Raine Hood? Who was that? I looked at Luke who shrugged at me. 

"Calum?" 

The brunette looked at me from the door of my room. 

"Any idea who Raine Hood is?" 

He instantly groans. 

"Raine? What did she do this time? I told my mom not to let her mess with Amber, cause she wasn't afraid to mess Raine up. Raine is my niece. She was homeschooled for a while." 

I nodded and looked back at my phone. 

"I'll be down to pick up Amber right away Ms. Lucy. Thank you."
