June P O V

New York is so lively. Sometimes I forget how busy and overwhelming it can be.

Today it was a little bit chilly so I dressed in jeans, a fluffy pink high neck sweater and my favourite pair of converse along with light make-up. Which is just chapstick and mascara.

I didn't really feel like doing my hair so I left it open wearing a pink scrunchy on my left wrist to tie it up when it got too much.

Today I didn't feel like taking the subway so I took an uber instead.

15 minutes later I arrived home sweet home.

I open the double glass iron doors of my home welcoming the smell of lavender and coffee.

"Dad," I called "I'm here"

I take off my shoes, placing them in the shoe stand slipping on my inside slippers. I walked into the kitchen in hopes of finding dad there but it was empty. I peek into the living room seeing him sitting on the leather chair watching National Geographic: Limitless with Chris Hemsworth.

"Dad?"

"Oh June you're here. I didn't realise when you'd arrived."

"Thats ok papa" I leaned down to the height he was sitting giving him a hug. "I'm going in the kitchen for a snack, want me to get u anything?"

He let out a gruff no so I made my way back into the kitchen rummaging through the pantry for orange juice and wafers, chocolate to be specific. About two minutes later I came back just in time for the next episode of limitless. I rest my juice on the coffee table munching happily on my wafers. Papa gives me a look as he watches me eat. "What?" I asked in-between bites. "I've never seen you eat that fast. Might as well inhale it all," "You remind me of your mother. Two of you shared a love for coco wafers." he confessed.

My mother, Adaline, wasn't a topic papa liked to talk about. Since she died 8 years ago our trio became a duo. Mama was like the glue in our family since her passing papa and I haven't been as close as we once were.

"I'm gonna refill my blow with wafers" I say getting up

amidst opening another pack of chocolatey sweetness I heard my phone go off. Probably a notification from snapchat, That app is always sending me atleast 3 notifications per day.

I came back into the room stopping in my treks watching papa clutching my phone, jaw clenched.

"So you're hanging around boys now?" he angrily says, showing me the countless messages between Ren and I.

"Pa-"

"NO! June. I sent you to college. I let you stay at that dorm so you could study and become successful in your future but apparently you don't want that for yourself. Instead you're hanging around boys."

"I'm taking you from that dorm"

"N-No papa Please don't do this" I beg, tears forming in my eyes.

Papa was fuming. He looked angered and deeply disappointed like I've committed the greatest sin. I've never seen him looked so- so pissed. "June Adeline Dawson, I'm taking you from that place and that's final."

Is it a sin to experience life? talk to a boy? go on a date?

I didn't want to add fuel to the fire but I couldn't help it, my emotions I've kept bottled up and countless sentences I've wanted to say comes sprawling out with anger
