June P O V
About a day after what happened with my dad and the unexpected sleepover with Ares and Ren I finally have the courage to face papa. Ren didn't want me going alone so he came with me only on the condition that he waits in the car to which he protested but I didn't budge.
Dad sees me coming through the Living Room window. He opens the door for me with an unreadable expression on his ageing face.
'Time to face the music' I internally sighed at that
"June"
"Papa"
"Can we talk?" I ask
he nods motioning for me to come in. I didn't want to stay any longer than I had to so I started the long awaited conversation first.
"I'm sorry I lashed out at you and ran away but you had no right to yell and accuse me like you did. It's my life and talking to whomever I want doesn't affect my ability to keep up my grades or give you the right to do what you did. I forgive you and I'd like to have my phone back. Please"
He looks at me before disappearing further into the house. I wait in the hallway not bothering to follow. He comes back with my phone and hands it back to me. "Someday I want to meet this Ren boy you're smitten with"
"If he wants to pursue my daughter I want to put a face to the name."
I stared at him blankly before I looked at him in shock. Having nothing else to say I wordlessly leave the house not before my dad calls out to me. He quickly apologizes, casting his head down. Papa is a strict man who rarely apologizes to people regardless of your relation to him even if he's in the wrong. He's what some might call an ass.
Sorry but It had to be said
Surprise was evident on my face hearing those 2 words.
I nod accepting his apology, sending him a small smile before meeting an Impatient Ren in the car.
Immediately he faces me asking about what transpired.
Signing 'It was surprisingly well. He even apologize' he visibly relaxes at that.
Over the past weeks I've become better at signing. Not as worried if I signed what I wanted to say wrong as before. Sometimes I make mistakes which Ren or Ares are happy to correct. They both teach me in their free time if I'm not taking ASL classes with my teacher.
Since it was still the weekend I spent the next few hours with Ren. He took me to a flower shop to get a bouquet of daisy's for me. The cashier of the shop commented on how we were such a beautiful couple.
We weren't together but neither of us made a move to correct her at the comment. We then took a drive through the streets of New York before getting Mc Donald's.
We had just come out of the drive-thru, me holding our bags of early-ish deliciously greasy lunch.
We parked in the semi vacant parking lot ready to dive into our food. "Have I told you how gorgeous you look today" He says with a smile
This boy, I swear he does this solely on purpose to make me blush and I do every time.
'Not until now. Thank you for the compliment Handsome' I sign sending a playful wink
