"So what are you looking for?". Sasha sits in the CT observatory. Her knee bounces up and down while she watches Alaric be prepped for the machine. The hospital has a strong disinfectant smell, making it feel hostile.
"I don't know exactly. A tumor. Vascular anomalies. Anything that could give us a clue as to why he's behaving like this.". Meredith gives her the best "It's going to be ok smile", but it did little to calm Sasha's anxiety. "If it's medical I can treat it".
"And if it's not?" Elena asks.
"Well, then we'll deal with it too".
Sasha smiles up at Meredith, at how invested she is in helping Ric, no matter what. They couldn't have been more wrong about her motives.
"When did you figure it out? That it was Ric who was killing all those people?" Sasha asks watching as the examination table slowly entered the big machine.
"It was after he told me about his ring. I remembered a story my grandmother told me about Samantha Gilbert and her secret journal.".
"Why did you protect him then?".
"Because I'm a doctor. I don't like to see someone hurt by something they have no control over. And, it might sound stupid, but when I first met him I just wanted to help him".
Didn't Sasha know what that felt like? Meeting someone and having the urge to help them. It was a need she had in her, it was beyond reasoning. But she couldn't help everyone. Damon was a good example to get through Sasha's head. Because whenever she saw the humanity in Klaus's eyes, it pushed Sasha further into believing that there was someone worth helping.
After the test is done, Elena and Sasha wait for the results.
"Meredith says the test came back clean, there's nothing wrong with you." Elena enters the room where Alaric was, followed by Sasha.
"That's because there was nothing wrong with me, to begin with," Alaric replies angrily, "I didn't kill Brian Walters. I didn't kill Bill Forbes. And I sure as hell didn't stab myself with a hunting knife".
Elena and Sasha share a worried glance. This outburst was unlike Ric. "Or I did. And I'm just losing my mind like that ancestor you guys had, who wore the ring". He sounds so defeated like this was the end.
"Look we're gonna call Bonnie. The rings were made by a Bennett witch," Sasha explains their plan of action. "Hopefully a witch can reverse the damage.".
