Steve straighten his shirt for what seemed like the 30th time. There was nothing there, of course. The man was just nervous as fuck.
"You're right. He is bloody handsome," Rebekah said, walking into the room.
Steve stood up to address her properly. He gave a look of confusion when he was pushed back into the seat by another man. Kol Mikaelson.
"If you want to keep your legs, I suggest you stay seated," Kol smirked.
"Sorry, I was just going to introduce myself. I'm..."
"We know who you are," Elijah interrupted, "Steve Grant Rogers. A super soldier born in the 1920s. Mainly known as The Captain America."
Steve's eyes darted between the vampires.
"I'm guessing you read about me," Steve asked, his eyes landing back on Elijah.
Elijah smirked at him while huffing a light chuckle.
"I was there," Elijah said, half shrugging, "My brother, Niklaus, was there as well. It was the first time I've seen him so fixated on something that wasn't a doppelgänger."
Steve knitted his eyebrows. Klaus and him met before?
"We've met before," Steve asked.
"No. He never got the chance, unfortunately. But he was enchanted by you. I never knew why. What was it about some super soldier that made him so excited," Elijah said.
Steve thought back to Klaus stalking him. No wonder he was so obsessed with him and not Bucky. Bucky, after all, was practically as strong and tall as Steve was.
"Wait. Did he know me before I became a super soldier," Steve asked.
"I'm not sure. It's very possible though. Niklaus tends to have various connections," Elijah said.
Steve dropped his eyes. So does that mean Klaus only likes him because he was a fan?
"I have to go," Steve muttered, standing up.
Kol stepped forward, causing Elijah to grab his arm. Steve walked out of the building, angrily.
"Nik is going to be pissed," Kol said, patting Elijah on the back, "So I'm outta here."
Kol vamped out of the building, heading back to his shared home with Davina.
Later Klaus came back in and paused at the door. The place smelled like Steve. He walked inside, searching for the soldier only to be disappointed.
"Niklaus."
He turned around to face Elijah.
"Why does it smell like that in here," Klaus asked, "Where's Steve?"
"He left," Elijah said.
"Left? Left where? What did he need," Klaus asked, demanding to know more.
"He stopped by to see you and we all had a talk," Elijah said.
"Then where is he," Klaus asked.
"Why didn't you tell him that you knew him," Elijah asked.
Klaus narrowed his eyes at Elijah.
"Where. Is. He," Klaus asked.
"Possibly getting a hotel as we speak. But..."
Before Elijah could finish Klaus was out the door. He sighed deeply.
"But he's not in the best mood. Oh wait, that hybrid bastard doesn't care what I have to say," Elijah said, speaking to himself in irritation.
