Tess POV
My arm was sore from the position it was in being tied to the post. I had cried until I physically couldn't anymore and now all I could do was wait. The men hadn't been back. It was hard for me to tell how much time had passed. I was tired but I didn't know if that's because it was late or just the adrenaline crash. I heard the door unlock and I squinted as the man turned on the light. The man tossed a water bottle at me. I looked at it and looked at him.
"You drink it" he said to me like I was an idiot. Although I knew I needed to drink, I was afraid to put anything in my body that these men gave me. I didn't move. "Drink it!" He said louder. I cautiously held it in my free hand and began examining it for holes and checking if it was still sealed. "It's a fucking water bottle" the man came over to me. I tried to slide away from him but couldn't get far. He grabbed the bottle from my hand, unscrewed the top, and shoved it in my mouth, squeezing the bottle. I obviously couldn't swallow the amount of water that entered my mouth and I began gagging and choking. I couldn't breathe. I instinctively pushed his hand away as I tried to get air. I leaned to the side and coughed out the water. "There." He said with a sick grin. I was still gasping for air and covered in water. He turned to leave.
"My wrist" I coughed. The guy stopped short and turned to look at me. "You lock the door. I can't leave. Can you at least untie me?" I asked hopefully.
The man shrugged. He came over and grabbed my wrist with both hands and twisted it, bending it backwards. I heard multiple cracks as a shooting pain emanated from my wrist. I screamed in pain. The man cut the zip tie and I pulled my injured wrist toward my body. "You asked for the tie off" he said. I looked up at him. I didn't want to show my fear and pain but I knew I wasn't doing a good job. "We can't have you trying to get away. Now it'll be pretty hard with a broken wrist." I didn't know how to react. The man didn't say anything else and left again, leaving me alone in the dark closet. I cried out in pain and tears began falling again. Once my eyes adjusted to the dim room, I looked around and found some old, dirty rags. I sat back down against a wall and made a sort of pillow to support my wrist in the least painful position I could manage. My wrist hurt and I was cold from my wet clothes. I sighed as I tried to get my mind to focus on Jay and Will. I knew they were looking for me. I knew they would find me. I just had to be patient and survive until then.

Jay POV
We brought our gang member, Mateo Juarez, into the interrogation room. I followed behind Hank as he went to enter the room. He stopped outside the door and looked at me. "You're not coming in." He stated.
"Like hell I'm not" I replied. Hank gave me his stern glare. "If he knows something about where my sister is, I need to know!" I protested.
"Exactly. If you get too emotional he may shut down and give us nothing. You can observe. Dawson and I have got this." Hank told me. I looked over at Antonio who gave me a sympathetic smile. Not wanting to argue and delay the interrogation, I joined Hailey and Kim in the observation room. We watched as Hank and Antonio entered the room. Before they started talking, my phone rang. I checked the caller ID and it was a blocked number. I showed Hailey the phone and went back to the squad room to put the call on speaker.
"The kidnapper's calling" I announced. Kim and Kevin came over.
I took a breath before answering. "Hello" I said calmly.
"Detective Halstead. Thank you for answering." The man on the other end said.
"Where is she?" I asked.
"It's simple." He replied. "If you let my guy go, I'll let your sister go. You keep him then I keep her."
"That's not how this is going to go." I told him. We were going to find Tess and arrest not only the man we have in custody but also the man who took my sister.
"If you say so. I'll give you some time to decide." With that, the man hung up the phone.
"That was useless." I looked and Kevin and Kim who nodded sympathetically.
"So was the interrogation." Antonio said returning to the room with Hank and Hailey close behind. "He didn't share anything we don't already know."
"Let's start there then" Hank announced. "Let's check all known addresses associated with the gang and gang members. We'll find her."

Tess POV
I must've drifted off to sleep because I was awoken to the light coming in from the door. I readjusted myself and felt the pain return to my wrist. The man approached me and dropped another water bottle beside me.
"I take it you remember what to do with it?" He asked, sarcastically.
"And you must know what I have to do after that." I alluded to the fact I had to pee.
The man scoffed. "There's gotta be a bucket around here somewhere. Get creative." He turned and left again without saying anything else. I stared at the bottle of water. I was thirsty. I held the bottle between my knees and tried to open it with my left hand. It didn't work. I had no choice but to use my injured hand and screamed in pain as I grasped the bottle. Finally, the lid popped off and I downed nearly half the bottle. I then looked around for something I could use as a toilet. Cradling my wrist, I stood up and walked  around the small closet. I banged into something and reached out to feel what it was. A sink. Well, it was better than using the mop bucket I had seen earlier. With great difficulty, I managed to use the sink and returned to the spot I had been sitting in before. I felt tired again. Really tired. I struggled to keep my eyes open but eventually fell asleep.

Jay POV
Hailey and I left the 3rd building we checked, with no luck. I was starting to lose hope. "This isn't working. We'll never find her." I got into the car and slammed the door. The anger I had been feeling all day was turning into sadness. The sun had set and it was getting late. I knew that the team would work through the night but you can't exactly go knocking on people's homes at 12am on a hunch.
"We'll find her, Jay. We always win." Hailey tried to comfort me. I nodded, not fully believing her. My phone rang again from the blocked number. I put the phone on speaker.
"Where are you?" I growled into the phone.
"Have you decided to trade?" The kidnapper asked.
"I told you that's not going to happen. Give me an address." I snapped.
"Very well. I will keep checking in. Let me know when you agree to my terms." The man hung up the phone.
"Does Juarez have any relatives in the gang?" Hailey asked. I shrugged. "It seems more personal than just losing a key player. I think we should look into his family. It might narrow our search."
I called Hank to let him know what we were thinking and Hailey drove us to the district so we could start digging.
