Will POV
Jay walked beside the paramedics as they wheeled Tess toward the ambulance. As they got close I got a look at Tess and my heart shattered. She was barely breathing, her hair had blood in it, and her wrist looked as though it had been badly broken. I felt sick to my stomach and inhaled sharply to keep my composure.
I recognized the paramedics, Eric and Jeanie, from Med. "Hi guys. Can I come with?" I asked. Jeanie nodded at me and I hopped in the ambulance with them. Jay stood outside with the doors open. I did my best to stay out of the way and let the medics work.
"Pupils pinpoint and resps are around 7" Jeanie said. Eric passed her a BVM and she began bagging Tess. Eric then prepared the Narcan and sprayed it in Tess's nostrils. Jeanie continued to assist Tess's breathing as Eric attached the blood pressure cuff. I stared at my sister and hoped she'd wake up.
"BP 104/64" Eric reported. "Heart rate 60." Tess slowly started to stir and Jeanie pulled the BVM back and replaced it with an oxygen mask.
"Tess?" Eric asked. "Open your eyes." He firmly shook Tess's shoulder. Tess blinked open her eyes and tried to sit up. Eric raised the back of the stretcher and helped Tess into a more comfortable position. "You're safe. You're in an ambulance. Will is right here." Eric nodded at me and I swapped places with him.
"Hi Tiny T" I said softly, smiling at her despite how panicked I was. Tess then burst into tears and reached for me. I hugged my sister tightly. "It's okay baby. I'm here. Jay is here." I looked to my younger brother who was still standing outside with fear evident on his face. I tilted my head, silently telling Jay to come in. He hopped up and placed his hand on Tess's leg.
"Hey, you. I'm here too. It's okay now." Jay told her.
"Ready to get going?" Jeanie asked. I nodded and Eric went up front to drive us to Med. Tess didn't say anything the whole way there. She held my hand tightly but that was it.
When we got to Med, we were met by Maggie and Connor. "Room 3" Maggie directed. The medics gave report to Connor and lifted Tess over to the bed.
"Hi Tess." Connor said to her. "Do you know where you are?" Tess stared blankly at him. "That's ok. You're in the hospital. We're going to take care of you." I watched as nurses established an IV, drew blood, and hooked her up to a monitor. "She looks like she had a nasty bump to her head so I'd like to get a CT. I've also called x-ray for the wrist." Connor told me once he was done with his assessment.
I nodded. "How about Dr. Charles?"
"Right here" Dr. Charles said from behind me. "Why don't you and Jay sit with her for a bit and then I'll come by." He suggested. I thanked him and went into my sister's room. She was still just blankly staring into space. Jay sat nervously by her side.
"Why is she like that?" He asked me quickly.
I shrugged. "We have no idea what she went through or what they gave her. She needs time." Jay seemed to accept my answer and went back to watching Tess. I took a seat on the opposite side of the bed and waited for Tess to do or say something.
Eventually, Tess whimpered. "Hey Tessy. You're okay. You're in the hospital." I told her as I stood up. Tess finally looked at me and then at Jay. Tears ran down her face faster and faster until she was sobbing and gasping for air.
"Shhh, baby. You're okay now. We're right here." I held her tight and gently rocked her. Jay sat next to us and comfortingly rubbed her back. Slowly, Tess began to calm down.
"I was so scared." She whispered.
"We know." Jay said. "I'm so sorry, T."
"I just wanted to be home. He pushed me around. Made me drink something that was definitely drugged." She confessed. My heart broke. My baby sister was beaten and drugged and I wasn't there to protect her.
"He can't hurt you anymore," Jay reassured her. "I won't let anyone hurt you ever again." Tess wiped away a few lingering tears. Jay's phone buzzed. "It's Hank. I'll be right back." Jay stood up to leave the room.Tess POV
As Jay got up to leave, I panicked. "No, Jay! Stay!" Tears sprung to my eyes at the thought of him leaving.
"I'll only be a minute" Jay seemed shocked by my outbursts.
"No" I cried. "You can't leave me. Please" I begged. I was afraid that if he left me I might never see him again. I couldn't let that happen. I needed to be with my brothers.
Jay and Will shared concerned looks before Jay slowly nodded and sat down in a chair next to the bed. "I'm not going anywhere."
"Thank you" I sniffled. I was exhausted but afraid to close my eyes. I was scared that when I would open them that I would be back in the room with that man. "I'm still scared." I whispered.
"That makes sense. It will take time but you'll become less scared. And until then, Jay and I are going to be right beside you." Will told me.
"Promise?" I asked both of them.
"We promise." Jay smiled warmly.
Despite my fear, I succumbed to my fatigue and fell asleep. I knew when I woke up I would have my brothers which made me feel just a little bit safer.A/N: Tada! Final part of this one done. Sorry for the abrupt-ish ending; endings are kinda my weakness. As always thanks for reading and send requests my way!
