Olivia was not expecting a visit from her best friend but what she was expecting was her goodbye. Lettie would always be like this, spontaneous. She was supposed to stay for a few more weeks but then here she was, saying she'll be flying to Monza for the race.
Lettie was playing the piano as Liv watched the cookies in the oven. She sat in front of it as she listened to her best friend. She was quite used to her leaving and coming, she adored that she could do it, she just wished she could too as well.
Suddenly the music stopped and it was changed to what Liv could only guess was someone announcing and the sound of cars racing. Standing up from the floor, she walked to the living room to see Lettie watching a race.
"I was enjoying your playing you know." She said as she crossed her arms. Lettie glanced at her and shrugged, "It was race time."
Lettie motioned for her to sit next to her, glancing at the oven, Liv shrugged and walked to her. She sat next to her, "So which race are we talking about? Your Arturo's or..." she trailed.
The redhead chuckled and turned to her, "You expecting someone's race?" she teased her. Olivia kicked her making her land on the ground. Lettie groaned, "I cannot understand why Filipinos sort to violence." She said as she rubbed her butt.
Olivia laughed and shrugged, "Now what race are we watching?" she asked. Lettie looked at the screen, "F1, its Oscar's race." She said. This made the brunette look at the telly, she tilted her head and watched as the cars raced against each other.
Her eyes following the orange cars in front of each other. She was so focused in watching the race, trying to figure out which orange car Oscar was driving, she jumped at the sound of a Tiktok edit coming Lettie's phone.
"Why can't you focus on one thing?"
"Because...I don't know, but look who appeared on my for you page." Lettie said as she handed her phone to her best friend.
Liv grabbed it and watched, it was Oscar. An edit of Oscar. It had been a few days since she had seen the driver. It was always texts and calls but she didn't want to take all his time. He had to focus. She didn't want him to be distracted.
She did not realize she had been watching the video for a while until Lettie tapped her leg. She looked up from the phone to see the redhead smirking at her, "Oh gosh, we lost her. You fell Liv. Hard."
"You got that from me watching Oscar on your phone?"
"No. I got that from the way you were watching Oscar on the phone and on the telly. You have very distinct eyes, expressive, and I am only one of the few people who knows that. And you can't hide it, the way your eyes sparkle when you see him or even a mere mention of him." She explained.
Liv sighed, "Is it really that obvious?" Lettie hummed and nodded, she grabbed her best friend's hands, "And I know why you're hesitant."
The brunette sent her a look but the redhead spoke again, "I know the past wasn't good to you. It wasn't good to your family too. But maybe, you can try. You were always willing to, what's so different with this?"
"The difference is, Oscar is a pure soul, much more than mine. And I don't want to ruin that."
Lettie sighed, "You won't-" "Lets." "You didn't ruin mine. So, you wouldn't ruin his."
Olivia thought about it. She chuckled, "Just start with actually telling him why. Like you said, he's a pure soul, I think he'll understand."
