XXXV. Gallery Field Trip

"Oscar be careful with Eli please." Olivia said as she pushed the stroller next to a bench. She sat down and watched her boyfriend help the little boy to walk but holding both of his hands.
They were assigned to take care of their close friend's first child. To make it different from last time (which was making cookies), they decided to bring Eli to a random pop-up gallery.
She was watching them with a smile. Oscar was a natural, and it seemed like he was the favorite of the little boy that week. Always asking to visit Unk Oscy. She thought it was cute.
As she was sitting there, Oscar was talking to the little boy. Acting as if he could understand him. He crouched down to his height and pointed at the painting, "You see that? Those are paintings. Your Tata Livie make those too."
Eli looked at him, his bright eyes staring back at him. He chuckled, "Oh Eli, if only you knew how much you are loved." He simply said. As he said this, Eli turned to Liv and pointed, "Tata Livie!" he said.
Oscar smiled, "Yah! You wanna go to her?"
"Go, Tata!"
So, the Australian helped him walk to her aunt. Olivia smiled as she realized that they were walking to her. She opened her hands as he approached her.
Eli giggled as he was lifted to sit on her lap. She tickled his tummy making the little boy laugh louder, "Tata! Tickle!" he said with a squeal.
Olivia chuckled and kissed his cheek. Oscar stood there, his heart melted at the sight. It was so natural for him. She was motherly and caring, she taught Eli new words every time they would babysit him.
They spend a few more hours there until they realized the little boy had started to get fussy. They reached the car where Oscar placed the boy in his car seat. It was easily detachable so it was easier for the parents to move the seat from theirs to the babysitters.
Olivia sat in the passenger seat, waiting for Oscar. But when he opened the door, she did not expect him to have a small bouquet of wildflowers. She smiled at the nostalgia.
"When Eli's dada-"
"Dada!" Eli interrupted. The couple turned to him and chuckled, Olivia nodded, "Yeah, dada." She acknowledged the child making it easier to teach.
She turned back again to Oscar, he handed the flowers to him and she accepted them, "Me and Eli's dada picked them up when he was dropped off."
"Oh, well how sweet." She said happily. They reached her apartment, walking in she went to her bedroom and laid the both of them down. She let out a happy sigh as Eli cuddled to her.
She started to hum as she patted the child's butt. It was something her mother and father did a lot, it was something Filipinos did to make little children fall asleep as quickly as they can.
What she didn't know was that Oscar was watching her. It was him this time that was leaning on the doorway.
He was always amazed at how much she had grown, he was just happy that he was around to see that.
Olivia Flores was much open now. She had met him half way. Something he had been thankful for. A lot had happened not only to them but to their friends. He was just glad that he had her around to get through them and help their friends.
She realized that Oscar was there. Turning her head, she opened her arm and motioned for him to cuddle with them. He did not waste anymore time. He laid down next to her and placed an arm around her waist.
She knew a lot happened, a lot had changed, and a lot was learned. She was just glad that Oscar was there. She was glad she met him half way. She was glad he didn't become impatient.
She had met so many friends, those that trust her so much that they open to her as much as she would open to them as well.
Needless to say, the trio found themselves in a nap. Not realizing the time. But Eli had fun. It was another memory for the young boy to carry and cherish as he grew up.
