The Hotel
They went out once more to the dark streets, a cold drizzle bothered the road and the lights lit up the place very little. Since the departure of the morgue Raniel was limited to follow Zero. At no time did they talk, Zero was still a little disturbed by the unpleasant experience he witnessed. Raniel, for his part, analyzed firmly on the findings he found in the corpse.
(Although the island looks clean the place gives me chills. So much darkness and silence, there is an exception of the noisy crows. Is very interesting that even a storm is coming, the crows are still here)
Their careful steps took them to the hotel. From the outside, it looked almost like an abandoned house made up of several rooms. In the distance was a military guard patrolling the area. Like Zero, this was a recruit who, upon seeing the Sub Lieutenant, greeted him for his rank, Zero greeted him as he walked.
- Where are the owners of this establishment? - Raniel questioned.
- The place is also managed by the students. - Zero answered opening the front door of the house. In the dark he tried to find the lamp switch.
- How did they find Jarvet's body?
- As I understand the Inspector did not show up for dinner with the Count. He sent for him at the Academy, but the maid found his body here.
- Someone patrolled that night?
- The guard who patrolled this area saw nothing out of the ordinary that night. But now the island is well protected.
- Protected? I don't even know if someone followed us along the way and they didn't even provide security to the Inspector
- No sir, we didn't expect him to die
- Or that he was assassinated. –Replied Raniel
Zero remained silent before the imposing figure of Raniel and continued his path to the main entrance. The house appeared to be well taken care of, but that night it seemed that the place had chosen loneliness as a companion. Perhaps the deceased of Inspector Jarvet would have affected him. The floors had been very well polished and the walls carried well-placed blocks and sanded to a smooth finish before the varnish was applied with fine layers.
The only defect was the smell, that and the dust. It was moldy and dry, but nothing that didn't resolve to open the window doors to bring the dead place back to life. Both climbed the steep stairs of the place until they reached the enigmatic room where Jarvet stayed overnight.
Zero approached the door of the room and cautiously opened it. The young man felt that he should be careful with the place, it was like something sacred to Raniel. So he remained at the entrance waiting for the Inspector to take the first step. Raniel slipped over the side and watched every detail of the simple room.
(That bed is very tiny, I wouldn't fit in that and those lamps are creepy. The only window in the room is wrapped in the most horrible curtains I've seen. If I had not seen his stomach destroyed, I would have sworn that he died of sadness for this room. The desk in front of the bed is quite organized, it is not something common in Jarvet.)
Zero entered the room and watched as Raniel took very cautious steps on the carpet. For a moment it seemed that the he was beginning to imitate him.
- This is very cool is like one of those mystery books. - The youngman admitted quietly.
- We are investigating a very serious event boy
- True, but it is very exciting.
The whole room was well organized something that aroused even more the curiosity on Raniel who proceeded to remove his wet coat to hang it on the coat rack.
