The Attack
The waters of the sea began to stir and the wind blew louder and louder. In the crossing in the tiny forest between the hangar and the residence of the Count, the trees kept moving from side to side. You could hear all kinds of agitated birds around the place.
- Here there are all kinds of gunpowder trace. - Raniel said to his companions.
They walked through the dark forest until they saw what appeared to be a port just behind Count Harper's mansion. In it was the so enigmatic flying ship. Its design was almost identical to the drawing that Raniel had found in Inspector Jarvet's room, something that caught their attention.
The waves in the sea were growing every minute. One more frightening than the other. It was at that moment that Raniel watched as from the waters rose what appeared to be a huge funnel-shaped plate composed of iron. Before their eyes it seemed to be a metal beast
- What is that? - Solangel questioned very confusedly about what she saw
- That's your marine monster
Zero was shocked by the immense size of the mechanical monster. It moved with a kind of wheels with straps that allowed it to better transport in the sand. From the shore, it was transported on the mainland and began to move faster. Raniel started running chasing the complex machinery. The winds of the storm pushed Inspector Cautillo making the hunt harder. Zero followed him very often staggering like the Inspector. The Fay sisters stayed back with great caution on their part.
(I understand now, the Harper Recruit knew about this machine and the date of the attack. He just tried to stop it and paid for it with his life)
- How will we stop it? - Zero questioned reaching Raniel
- I don't know if it can be stopped. I estimate that it is transported at about 25 knots, we can barely reach it.
The machine was headed for the Academia. Heavy rains and fierce winds didn't seem to hurt or stop it. From the complex funnel apparatus, a floodgate opened and a submachine gun as large as those of the airplanes came out. In a matter of seconds he began to launch lead shells around the entire Academia campus.
At that moment the machine began to spin like a spinning top and continued firing shots as shocking as lightning from the sky. Between thunderous shots and strong winds, the four tried to protect themselves with any object that kept them safe from all that. Leaving several buildings, armed recruits were seen firing that machine, which returned twice as many shells. Colonel Viruet joined them, covering themselves with lethal shots.
(It is definitely controlled by humans, it is nothing more than a mechanical ingenuity that can be destroyed, but how?)
- Any suggestions? - Raniel questioned.
- The armaments building there are enough weapons there. - Hailey answered
Raniel just looked from side to side looking for some advantage over the enemy. At that moment the machine stopped turning and firing. It was a crucial moment for everyone. Most of the soldiers wanted to go on the attack, but the Colonel recognized very well what was happening. Without thinking, he gave the order to move to the building farthest from the machine. Raniel and the others joined them.
- Colonel! - Solangel called him when they met again.
- Glad to see you still alive.
- He stopped shooting. - Zero affirmed.
(It didn't is actually recharging its weapon.)
- They are reloading their submachine guns and inspecting the area. - Confirmed the Colonel. -We need to immobilize her. If we succeed, it will stop rotating and will not shoot us in an area. Any ideas?
