"hey, baby boy." i cooed dusting off the granite memorial plaque.
I placed the blanket on the ground, sitting down. I cleaned up his grave and replaced the flowers I'd bought two weeks ago when i last visited. "I got good news, mommy got into her dream school, Tina's throwing me a going away party today but before i leave, I had to come see you. I love you, baby boy and wish you were here with me. i know you are watching over me and your daddy. Speaking of, he is here with me." I smile looking over at my car.
Naamari leaned against the passenger door, "we're just friends, but I'll always have love for him." I said more to myself, thinking out loud.
I sat there for another few minutes before collecting my things and returning to Naamari.
"you ready?" his eyes landed on me, and i nod. He opened my door and I got inside.
He jogged around the car, getting inside, and we pulled off. The drive to Tina's house was silent, a comfortable silence. "are you ready to start college?" Naamari questioned, breaking the silence.
"I am actually. It's been one hell of a year, i can finally say my life feels like it's getting back to normal, well...a new normal." i shrug happily, looking out of the window.
"that's good. I'm happy for you Corai, i mean that. We've been through a lot of shit this last year, you especially. it's good seeing you happy and following your dreams. I can't wait to see what the future holds for you." Naamari smirks interlocking our hands, he kissed the back of my hand and smiled at me.
"me too. what are you planning on doing?" i ask catching his gaze.
"I'm opening up a barbershop, I'm finally going legit after all these years." he nods.
"I'm really happy for you, Mar."

"i cannot believe you bitches are leaving me behind, but I'm really happy for y'all." Kimora pouted referring to me, tori, lauren and jade.
"awww pooh you can visit us whenever you want!! we all can." i cheese pulling her into a hug.
Tori got accepted into Howard University in Washington, DC she plans to major in business administration and fashion design, she's following her dream of owning her own clothing line.
Lauren got accepted to North Caroline A&T, she plans on majoring in child development and family studies, she following her dreams of becoming a therapist.
Jade got accepted to Clark Atlanta University, shes majoring in nursing administration. She's following her dreams of becoming a NICU nurse.
I got accepted into Grambling State University in Louisiana, I'm majoring in culinary arts and business management. I'm following my dreams of becoming a chef with hopes of opening my own family ran and owned restaurant.
"wherever life leads us, let's promise each other we will always come back home every year." Dallas suggested, holding out her pinky.
"promise." we each said, doing a pinky promise.

"i guess this is see you later." Naamari spoke from behind me.
"i guess it is..." i sigh turning to face him.
"Corai, don't forget about us little guys when you become a big time restaurateur. Always stay humble and remember who held you down." Naamari smirked, his hands gently resting on my waist.
"I would never forget about y'all. Especially you..." my eyes lock with his.
we stare deeply into each other's eyes.
"you don't forget about me!" I airily laugh, pushing him back.
"never." he chuckles.
"promise me that you'll look after my dad while I'm gone. He needs all of the support he can get especially with baby sis."
"i promise, luh baby."
