"thank you" i smile up at the waitress as she places my cup of coffee in front of me, i pick it up and take a sip.
The hot liquid warming my body immediately as it slides down my throat.
"what is it you wanted to talk to me about?" Armani questions, clearing his throat as he cut into his french toast.
His gaze on me is soft but intense, i might fold under pressure. I sigh, shaking away my thoughts.
Instead of replying, i take out my phone and show him a picture of my girls. "i think they should know their real father." i say, nervously as my hands begin to sweat.
He takes my phone from me, stares at the picture then smiles. "they've gotten so big. im meeting with the big boss soon." he sighs, taking my hand into his from across the table.
"they ask about you all of the time. we miss you." i sigh blinking back tears.
"i miss y'all too, but we agreed that you and naamari would take care of them until things cool down for ma. i don't want to involve you or our girls in this life not anymore then i already have." he whispers moving closer to me.
"no one besides family was supposed to know about those girls, now thanks to your boy the opps know & they will come after y'all any chance they have to get to me."
As much as i didn't want to admit it, armani was right. Naamari unknowingly put a target on our backs. I told him to take it down but the damage had already been done. I still receive death threats and calls from unknown numbers.
"we're going back to Atlanta tomorrow, please come back with us?" i beg looking into his eyes as mine start to water.
"I'll try my best. i have to go, I've been exposed for too long." he says in a hush tone. He takes a wad of cash from his pocket and lays $20 on the table.
He gets up from his seat, kisses the top of my head and vanishes. I swallow the hard lump in my throat and wipe my tears away.
I took a deep breath finishing the rest of his food then leave a generous $5 tip.
As i walk to my car i could hear someone following me, i glance over my shoulder and see someone in this distance wearing all black and a face mask.
I speed walk to my car and they pick up haste then i hear two gunshots ring out. "what the actual fucking hell." i mumble unlocking my car.
BOOM! BOOM!
"RAI, BABY!"
"stay with me ma. call 911!" he yelled hovering over me.
my eyes begin to slowly shut. i hear sirens in the distance but soon black out, losing consciousness.

my heart races as i weave in and out of traffic trying to keep up with the ambulance.
"yea coco" naamari questions on the other end of the phone
"it's Meeks. Rai on her way to the hospital, there was an incident at the cafe and her car was bombed. im on my way to the hospital now." i tell him in one breath.
"dammit. im on my way, you want me to bring the girls?" he ask and i shake my head.
"no. they shooter might be following us. i can't risk them being in danger." i say before hanging up the phone.
I pull into the emergency parking lot of the hospital and jump out of my car, heading inside with the medics and Corai.
"baby, im right here! everything'll be okay." i reassure her while holding her hand, she tries to speak but i warn her against it.
"sir, are you family?" one of the nurse ask who was attending to her.
"yes, I'm her husband." i tell her.
"alright, please follow me." she nods taking me into an empty sitting room.
I pace back and forth in the room as her family and friends start to arrive. "what happened?" Dallas asks with tears in her eyes.
"someone must've followed me to the cafe and when they seen her they started shooting, i shot back killing the person then her car exploded." i tell them and they shake their heads.
"first yolanda, then cj, and now corai. we need to end this shit once and for all. I'm tired of these motherfuckers coming after the ones we love." Tori spoke with venom.
We all agreed.
The reign of whoever is behind this will end & i am so close to finding it all out.
