Ryder

"Happy anniversary mummy and daddy" our five year old son Jacob said jumping on our bed

I looked over to see Scarlett mouth that we should pretended to stay asleep and wait for Jacob to come closer. Everything went to plan. When he came closer me and Scarlet leaped up and started to tickle him.

"mummy....daddy....stop....tickling....me"

"Scarlett should we stop?" I asked jokingly

"hmm...Ryder I think we should carry on I mean he did try and sneak up on us"

"okay...okay...I'm sorry" Jacob said

we stopped tickling him and he hugged us both

"I love you mummy and daddy"

"Aww we love you too Jacob"

hearing the words mummy and daddy was like music to my ears especially since we found out that Scarlett couldn't have children.

Flashback

"I'm really sorry Mr. and Mrs. Daniels but Scarlett can't have any children as she has scarred ovaries. This means that there is physical damage to the ovaries and may result in failed ovulation...there is a slight chance you will be able to conceive" the doctor had informed us after hearing this Scarlett began to cry so much. She even locked herself in our room and didn't come out for days.

"Why don't you just adopt a child" my mum said

"I don't know...it's up to Scarlett...if she really wants to adopt one then I'm more than happy to go right now and bring back a child" I replied

Scarlett

I heard the conversation between Ryder and his mum. Did I really want to adopt a child? I thought about it for days and remembered how I felt when I lost my mum. Imagine these poor children who don't have any parents at all.

I want to adopt a child and I'm going to tell Ryder today.

End of flashback

I got up and went to go take a quick shower. I could hear Jacob and Ryder whispering to each other but I couldn't make out anything they said.

After I finished I went downstairs to make breakfast when I saw a little girl about three year's old standing next to Ryder.

"umm...Ryder....who is she?"

"Scar...Happy Anniversary...this is Samantha Daniels"

"What?" I said shocked with my eyes wide open

"Well you always said you wanted a baby girl and well I decided to adopt one and I named her Samantha because that was..."

"My mum's name" I interrupted.

I ran towards Ryder and gave him the biggest bear hug.

"Thank you so much Ryder" I said

We both knelt down towards Samantha.

"Hey Sam... I'm your new mummy" I said smiling after a few seconds she finally showed her face and looked at both of us.

"mummy and daddy" she whispered

Ryder looked at me but i ignored him... hearing her say mummy and daddy made me cry so much I hugged her tightly showing her that no matter what happens I will protect her.

"Hey aren't you forgetting someone"

I turned around to see Ryder and Jacob pouting I laughed and they joined in to the family hug.

This is perfect... i looked at Sam she seemed to fit in perfectly...even though she wasn't my real daughter or Jacob wasn't my real son they acted somewhat like us and I can't believe I have my own little family that brings me joy and happiness. People say that you need luxuries to make someone feel happiness in your life but then again who said I do?
