He was just lying on the floor lifeless. I was in a complete shock. Ryder came up to me and hid my face so I didn't have to see what I just saw. The ambulance came and took my dad away. I was in tears I need to see my dad right now. I turned towards Ryder and he already had a hold of his keys.

"Come on Scarlett" Ryder said

We were sat in the car and I was crying so much. Ryder kept trying to comfort me but all i could think of was that all this reminded me of when my mum passed away. I was so scared of what was going to happen. Please let my dad be okay.

We reached the hospital and saw Ryder's parents sitting in the waiting room. I rushed towards them and asked

"Is he okay?"

"Sweetheart, I'm not sure the doctor's haven't told us yet" Ryder's dad said.

As if on cue the doctor came in and asked for the family members of Andrew Johnson. I rushed towards him and asked if he was okay.

"Miss Johnson...your father's condition is getting worse...we are trying our best to keep him alive"

As soon as the doctor had announced his condition I felt my world come to an end. My father cannot die on me right now. He just can't.

Ryder walked towards me and pulled me into a hug.

"We should have told them" I heard Ryder's mum say.

I pulled back from the hug and looked at Ryder's parents.

"Told us what?"

"Sweetie...we know we should have told you this sooner....your father told us the pain he was facing was getting much worse and told us to keep it a secret from you as your wedding is coming up...we are so sorry...we didn't know this would happen".

So all this time they knew about my dad and didn't bother to even tell me. Everyone was lying to me...My dad, my future in laws...oh my God Ryder must have known too. Why didn't he tell me? I needed to clear my mind so i ran outside. Ryder must have followed me but i didn't want to see him.

"Scar...baby I know your upset that...."

"Upset....No Ryder I'm angry....you obviously knew about this that's why you are sticking up for them"

"Honestly Scar...I didn't know about this I found out when you did"

"Stop lying Ryder...I know you knew"

"Scarlett...you know for a fact I would pick you over my parent's any day...I love you so much and i would tell you everything even when I'm not supposed to"

"I want to go home Ryder..."

"Okay....I'll take you home but I'm staying here."

"Fine"

We reached the house and I slammed the car door shut and walked towards the window to see when Ryder would go back to the hospital.

Ryder

I dropped Scarlett back home and waited outside for about five minutes to make sure she was okay. As I was on my way back to the hospital all I could think about was Scar....she wouldn't do anything stupid while she was alone would she? I turned the car around and went inside to check the house.

"Scar.....Scarlett"

I checked the whole house and she wasn't home. I was really scared now...where could she be? Think Ryder think....

I haven't been here for a long time. I searched high and low and finally found the one person who understands me the most and is the only one who could help me....My Mum.

"Hey mama....I miss you so much...I really need you right now I feel so alone. I know I have Ryder and his parents and daddy...well not sure about that now...dad's been admitted into a hospital and I'm not sure what to do now. Ryder and everyone kept it a secret from me that he was experiencing pain...Please help me mama...I don't want dad to leave me just like you did... he is the only family I have left....Please... I need him to walk me down the aisle...to see me graduate and congratulate me when I get my first job....please mama please I need my dad....I can't lose him too"

tears were running down my cheek and I felt someone's hand touch my shoulder. I turned around and say Ryder...

"How did you find me?"

"Well....I came back to the house to make sure you were okay but you weren't there...I checked the whole house and then I remembered that your dad told me that whenever your upset you come to meet your mum"

"Thank you Ryder... I love you so much....I am so sorry of accusing you before"

"Hey...princess I'm not angry so there is no reason to say thank you or sorry. I do this because I love you and I want to protect you"

I kissed Ryder on the cheek and got up off the floor ready to go back to the hospital.

"bye mama....I love you....come on Ryder let's go"

"wait Scar I need to do something"

"what?" I asked confused but he just ignored me.

"Hello Mrs. Johnson...I just want to let you know that I love Scarlett so much and I will make sure nothing in her past will happen again. I will protect her even if it means risking my own life...I promise you that I will never hurt her or make her cry of sadness...I would have loved to meet you but sadly I can't and I promise that I won't give Scarlett a chance to remember the bad memories she's faced".

I turned around and saw an emotional Scarlett stood there staring at me.

"What?" I asked confused

"Ryder that was so sweet...do you means all of that?"

"Yeah... you mean the world to me and I mean every single word I said"

We went back to the hospital and the doctor had come out of Mr. Johnson's room
