After Erwin managed to defuse the situation, you reluctantly agreed to go with them. You handed over your weapons and allowed them to cuff you for the time being. Erwin was a thorough and cautious man, and given the circumstances, his distrust was understandable. Your introduction hadn't exactly gone according to plan.
The violence you had inflicted on those soldiers had created a terrible first impression, and you wouldn't be surprised if some soldiers now had a grudge against you. Shifting uncomfortably in your seat, you felt the handcuffs digging into your wrists.
You sat in the same cart as the boy from earlier whom you later found out was Eren. Across from you sat Levi, and the other girl from earlier, Mikasa.
You noticed that she was staring daggers into direction, and you returned the favor. Matter of fact, everyone around you casted uneasy glances in your direction. Fine. It didn't offend you. The feeling was mutual.
You hadn't been introduced to the rest of the soldiers just yet, and you had a feeling you wouldn't get a warm welcome now. But from what you could gather, the blonde boy driving the cart was named Armin. There were two grayish haired kids, Jean and Connie, that rode on either side of you. The timid girl, Sasha, avoided your gaze like the plague. The poor girl was so skiddish, you were sure any sudden movement from you would make her piss herself.
Then there were two girls, Ymir and Christa, and two boys, Reiner and Bertholdt. The silence was overwhelming as you all continued your journey back to the walls. The only sounds that broke the quiet were the steady sounds hoofbeats and the creak of the wagon wheels.
After a while, Erwin gave the order for everyone to halt and take a break.
You were allowed to stand and stretch, though you remained under close watch from Levi. His intense gaze was admittedly unsettling as you tried to ignore him, leaning against the side of the wagon and letting your head fall back to savor the warmth of the setting sun. The thought of finally finding the Commander and being closer than ever to finding your brother made the handcuffs almost bearable.
A few feet in front of you, Erwin was engaged in conversation with a brunette. Their hair was styled in a neat updo, and the sunlight glinted off their glasses as they discussed matters in low, earnest tones.
"Um, s-sir?" A red headed soldier approached the Commander and his companion. "My name is Joseph, sir. I, um.., I haven't been able to find my friend since we left the forest. I was wondering if you had any reports on him?"
Erwin turned to him, "What is the name of your friend, Joseph?"
"Elijah Princeton, sir."
A small frown formed on Erwin's face, "I have not heard anything of Elijah. I'm sorry."
