About a week had passed since your encounter with Historia in the garden.

Since then, you've begun to notice subtle shifts in the dynamics around you—hurried conversations that fell silent upon your approach, the glances exchanged between council members during meetings. Even your visits with Erwin have become brief, which was quite unlike him.

You began to worry that you had done something wrong that had offended those around you, but as you racked your mind constantly for an answer, you could never find one.

And then there's Historia, your dear friend and Queen, whose demeanor has changed in ways you struggled to comprehend. There's a hesitation in her eyes, an reluctance in her words, as if she's tiptoeing around some unspoken truth, unwilling or unable to share it with you.

But perhaps the most painful revelation of all is the silence from Levi. His letters, once a lifeline connecting you to the outside world and him, had ceased without warning, only adding to your surmounting worry.

Is he safe? Is he well? Or has he too been swept up in the currents of deception that swirl around you? The comfort of palace life now felt more like a prison, trapping you inside a web of uncertainty.

On top of the sinking feeling like you were being left out of something important, your pile of tasks never stopped coming. It seemed once you solved one issue, another sprung up in its place, demanding immediate attention. You grew weary. So much so that you didn't even bother investigating the strange feeling you had about everyone else. All you wanted was for the workload to stop, but it never did.

And so, when Historia suggested visit to the orphanage—a vacation away from the demands of your job—you seized upon it eagerly, clinging to the promise of freedom like a drowning soul reaching for a lifeline.

You stood by the window in your quarters, peering out onto the grounds of the orphanage as the few children played with each other. You watched as the sun's rays filter through the curtains, casting patterns of light and shadow on the wooden floor, yet even their warmth failed to rid of the chill that had settled within you.

A soft knock interrupted the silence, drawing your attention. You turn to see Historia, and offer a small smile.

"Are you hungry, Adeline?" she asked warmly, "Dinner is ready."

You blinked, pulling yourself out of your mind, and nodded silently, following Historia as she lead the way downstairs. The wooden halls creaked under your weight as you passed through the corridors.

You entered the dining hall, the evening meal laid out before you on simple plates. The children playing outside for the moment granted you both a rare moment of privacy. The distant sound of their laughter drifted through the air, a reminder of the innocence that still remained in this world.

Historia tried to make small talk as the two of you sat down to eat. She kept her words light and easy, as she gestured towards the orphanage and children, "They seem to be enjoying themselves today," she remarked, her gaze lingering on the window, "It's always so lively here."
