"Grandma? Grandpa?! You guys home?" You called out into the quiet house. After walking around the whole house though, it was revealed that your grandparents weren't there.
You sighed in relief as a note on the fridge alerted you of where the went and when they'll be back. "Monkey King, it's safe to come in, if you'd like!" You yelled from the kitchen. You didn't here a response, but guessed it was because he decided to snack on more of your family's farms fruit.
You rolled your eyes at the thought and started to unpack the groceries. While you unpacked, a certain yellow-orange butterfly with red and turquoise markings flew in through an open window and landed by the bag. The butterfly watched as you put the items in their respective places.
The butterfly swiftly grew bored, and flew over and landed on your cheek. You flinched, startled by the butterfly, then spoke softly, "What are you doing inside, little guy?" You carefully lifted it off your cheek and held it in your hand.
"You don't belong indoors. You should be outside with all the plants, silly thing!" You giggled. "What! Kicking me out after inviting me in?!" The butterfly scoffed jokingly. You blinked at the butterfly, not expecting it to talk, then yelped while throwing it away from you.
You swiftly ran towards the nearest flyswatter and held it threateningly, preparing to smack the bug. "Wait! No! No! It's me!" The butterfly spoke before disappearing into a puff of smoke. "The Monkey King!" The butterfly revealed itself in its true form.
You stared at the simian in a mixture of shock, fear, and confusion, then sighed. "Don't do that again, or I won't hesitate to smack you with this!" You warned. "Okay! I get it! No more surprise talking animals! Well, other than me." The monkey joked while holding his hands up in surrender.
You rolled your eyes, again, and continued to unpack the last few items. "And- Done!" You stated once you placed the last can in its spot. "Finally!" Wukong groaned from a chair in the neighboring room. "I thought you'd never finish!" He complained.
"It could have gone faster if you actually helped me!" You pointed, teasingly. The monkey feigned offense with a gasp and a hand to his chest. "You were the one who didn't ask for my help!" He defended himself in a dramatic arms crossed while looking away.
You giggled at his antics. Then gasped when you heard a small clang. You swiftly looked over at a small use can that hung in the corner, then at the clock, then the note. "Ah shoot!" You exclaimed. "You gotta hide! Now!" You pointed at Wukong, who had confusion written all over his face.
"What. Why? What's going on?" He asked as you tried to push him towards the back door. "'Cause the clang came from the can in the corner. And the can only clangs when someone drove over the string! And the only time someone drives over the string is when someone just pulled up to the house! Meaning there are people here!" You explained swiftly.
The monkey had a puzzled face until he realized what you meant. "Oh! And you don't want me to scare them! Or you to explain why there's a talking monkey in the house!" "Yes! Now hide, or leave, or something that hides you from them!" You answered.
"Y/n! We're home!" You heard your grandmother call out. You swiftly left the monkey and ran towards the door. "Yay! Welcome back!" You said while giving them hugs. "Hey! Where have you been kiddo?" Your Grandpa asked, teasingly. "We've missed ya!"
"Oh, you know! Helping where I can, fetching groceries, and stuff!" You explained. "Did your mysterious friend come along?" Your grandmother asked. "Mhm!" You nodded. "'Mysterious friend'? Well, I hope they don't stay a mystery for long! When are we going to meet this new friend?" Your grandfather asked.
"Uh.." "Why not now!" A fourth voice spoke up. You spun around, ready to scold your monkey friend, but stopped when you saw a boy there instead. The boy had orange hair, peach skin, and gold eyes. He wore a casual long sleeved goldish-yellow shirt, poofy maroon capris, and neat black sneakers.
"Hello! My name is Sun Wukong!" He introduced himself while holding his hand out. "Oh my! Aren't you a gentleman! I'm Y/n grandmother! You can call me Grandma!" Your grandmother spoke while shaking his hand.
"You're a boy, huh? I hope you treat my granddaughter with respect, young man!" Your grandfather spoke sternly, embarrassing you. "Grandpa! Stop!~ We're just friends!" You groaned. "Well, eventually, a friend becomes something more than just a friend!" Your grandfather argued back.
You groaned and face-palmed in embarrassment, while Wukong chuckled. "Sir. I think you miss understand! We just met three days ago! We're nothing more than friends!" The disguised simian spoke. "Honey, you don't need to go about accusing every boy of that possibility!" Your grandmother chuckled while calming down your grandfather.
Your grandfather mumbled something about needing to smoke his pipe anyways and left the room. "Well, that's taken care of! I'm going to start preparing dinner! You two go have fun!" Your grandma spoke encouragingly. "Thanks Grandma!" You thanked her.
"Though, just to let you know! If you two do become a thing, remind me to show you some of her baby pictures!" Your grandmother teased before she left. "GRANDMA!~" You groaned, then left with Wukong following in a fit of laughter.
