He glances at me and I can see his eyes are watery, he holds my hand gently and rests his head on the steering wheel. “…I'm asking about both” he sighs “W..Why,” I ask my voice shaking, “Be..Because…I live this life where I just increase my chances of dying so…I need to know…especially right now with this gang” he looks at me and I can see he's about to cry and it breaks my heart.
“I..I don't know…I…I don't like thinking about being apart from you…if we broke up…and you just left without explanation…then I think I'd still try to find you…I think that…I wouldn't want to let you go” I hear him sniffle and he squeezes my hand “A..And if I died?” he asks his voice breaking. “I..I honestly don't know what I'd do…it scares me” I start crying, “W..Would….Would you hurt yourself?” he asks and I freeze, “I..It's possible” I clear my throat. “and if I asked you not to…would you” he asks and I look at him, his cheeks are stained with tears and so are mine.
“I…I can't promise I wouldn't ever do it…if you died…but I would try not to do it…if that's what you wanted” I sniffle. “Zara…do you love me?…because I love you” he gently touches my face, “I..I do love you” I nod holding his other hand. “If anything is to happen to me…you can't….you can’t kill yourself…for me…please” he starts crying, “I..I promise” I cry and he gently rubs my tears away. “I'll do anything to keep you safe. I love you” he unbuckles leans forward and kisses my forehead.
“I love you too Jay” I sniffle and hug him tightly, we stay like that for a little bit, I'm too scared to let him go. It feels like I can now lose him at any second and it terrifies me, I feel him pulling away but I pull him closer. “Wait…j..just a little longer…please” I whisper and I feel him take a deep breath, “I’m sorry Zara” he whispers in my ear and kisses my cheek. “It's okay…I guess it's good we talked about this” I sigh and let him go.
“Can I ask you one more thing” I ask and he nods pulling away from me, “who is coming after you and why” I ask and he sighs, “remember that gang that was targeting Anderson” he asks “Yeah…the Guzman's” I say and he nods “Well…they found out about me and Dani being related to him so now it's trouble for me and Dani and we might even have to do something about them” he groans rubbing his eyes. “But don’t they know that you guys haven't even talked in years” I sigh and he shrugs.
“I don't know… I just need to deal with this because their new leader has been going after entire families and as they see it everyone who lives in the house is my family” he sighs. “Oh…Do you really think that you'll have to do something…dangerous” I ask and he looks at me and sighs “I don’t know…but something drastic might have to happen…I just don't know if I'm prepared” he lays his head on the steering wheel, he peeks over at me.
“I trust you'll make the right decision,” I say and he gives me a small smile, “Yeah…we should get going” he starts the car and we get back on the highway. “Oh right before I forget I got you something” he clears his throat and I look at him, “Really?” I ask and he nods “It's in the glove box,” he says and I open it, I see a phone sitting there. I gently grab the phone and look at it, “Is this for me” I ask and he chuckles, “I figured that if you need to get in touch with me it'd be best to have your own phone” he chuckles I turn on the phone and see the picture of me and him on the lock screen.
“Awe I really do love this picture” I smile looking at the phone, “Good because I love it too” I see him smile, and my heart flutters. I start fiddling with the phone and see that everyone's number is already in it, I open the camera and take a picture of Jay, then I take a video, “What are you doing pretty girl” he chuckles trying to reach for the phone, “This camera is awesome, don't blame me it's your fault for looking handsome” I giggle, “I love you” he chuckles placing his hand on my thigh, “I love you too” I smile stopping the video, I place my hand on top of his. “Get some rest love, I'll wake you when we're there” he rubs my thigh with his thumb. I look down at his hand and smile.

“Zealand…Zealand wake up” I feel someone shaking me I slowly blink open my eyes and look over, my eyes shoot open when I recognize Oliver. “Oliver!” I jump back, “Woah I didn't mean to startle you” he chuckles and I unbuckle and look away uncomfortable, I look around and don't see Jay, “Where's Jay!” I ask alarmed. “Hey, no need to get worried he's over there talking with his sister” Oliver points and I see him talking to Dani who looks distraught. “What's wrong,” I ask feeling sad, “I'm sure they'll explain later…but he thought it'd be a good idea if me and you talked,” he says and I sigh.
“Um…Okay,” I get out of the car. “So…I heard about Mom and Dad” he scratches his arm, “Did you? Or did you hear their version” I cross my arms, “No…Um…after I left…that night…I asked Tyler to help me find out where you were and that's when he told me everything…I was going to come to see you sooner…but I didn't know what to say…hell, I still don't know what to say…except I’m sorry” he sighs looking down. “But I need to know... Is what he said really true” he asks and I feel my stomach turn.
