Ash was walking down a very familiar road. He hadn't walked down it in some time. He approached Brock's residence and knocked on the door. The thing with Ash and Brock was that what happened to him was what triggered Ash's cold side. Just then, the door opened.

"Oh, hey there Ash."

"Hey Brock, it's been a while."

"Yeah it has. Please come in."

Ash went inside. He still had a hard time seeing Brocks damaged arm and injured leg. It all happened 9 years ago. Brock was helping out some injured pokemon by a cave, when a freaked out Lunatone accidentally caused a cave in. Rocks crushed Brocks leg and as he tried to calm down some of the trapped pokemon, a Cumbusken unleashed its flamethrower. Brock protected himself with his arm, but it left major burn marks. By the end of the day, Brock was pretty banged up, all from being a nice guy and trying to help out pokemon. Now he has a walking stick and he can't feel half of his arm.

"So, are you still acting up?"

"Well I think you'll be happy to hear I'm my old self again."

"That's great to hear Ash! Last time we talked you said you would never talk to any of them again...or me."

"Yeah, I'm sorry about that."

"It's all good Ash, you were having a rough time."

"Speaking of, I wanted to tell you something."

"What is it?"

"Well...my mom died."

"Oh Ash, I'm so sorry."

"Thanks Brocko. I was hoping you could come to the funeral Saturday."

"Of course."

"Thanks. You know it's funny how she wanted me to connect with all of you again."

"Well I guess the worst of times can lead to some better times ahead."

"I guess so. Well, I better go, Mist is probably wondering where I am."

"Ok-wait, our Misty?"

"Yeah, she's been staying with me while I've been going through this."

"I see, well then best not to keep her waiting."

"Yeah, see ya Brocko."

"See ya amigo."

"Really?"

"Yes."

Ash chuckled then left the house. Brock sat down and cracked a smile, for he knew something big about those 2.
