Reconnected

Her

Ash starred. He couldn't believe his eyes. Misty, his former best friend, the one who tried to visit him as much as she could, the one who was his first companion and the last one to leave...the person he wanted to see least of all because of it. 

Pikachu, in Ash's eyes, betrayed him by leaping onto Misty's shoulder and rubbing her cheek.  

"Hey there pika pal, it's been a while." 

"Pika pi!" Said a happy-sad Pikachu. 

"So, why are you here?" 

"Really? Not a 'hey, how are you Misty?' or anything?" 

"I'm not in the mood." 

"Well, and to think you changed after 7 years." 

"Why are you even here Misty?!" 

"Your mom asked if I could come over. I didn't know you were here, I thought I was going to dinner with her like we usually do on Saturdays. Speaking of which, where is she?" 

"She's gone." 

"Um Ash, her car's in th-" 

"She died this morning."

"...no, this can't be. We only just tal-" 

"Well it's true."

"I'm sorry Ash, if there's anything I ca-" 

"I'm sorry too, and I'm sorry you can't help me." 

"Ash, please." 

"No Misty, I can't deal with all of this right now. No c'mon Pikachu." 

The mouse type looked at Ash, then at Misty, then back at Ash. He reluctantly leapt off of Misty and back onto Ash. The duo left to go get a bite to eat. 

... 

Ash returned home after a pretty sh!t meal. After everything that happened, food didn't comfort him like it usually did. 

"I hope Mr. Mime likes this." 

"Pi." 

Ash approached the door. He went to unlock it, only to find out it wasn't locked. 

"Guess I didn't lock it." 

Ash opened the door and just as he walked the corner saw Misty on the couch. 

"What are-" 

"3 things. I want you to tell me what happened, I'll be gone tomorrow to grab some bags to stay over for a bit, and I'll be helping you through this." 

"What?! Why?" 

"Because Ash, I was close to the both of you. Even though we haven't been close in years, I still want to help an old friend. You won't be getting rid of me, not this time, so like it or not you'll be stuck with me for a while." 

"I-uh...fine." Was what came out, as Pikachu betrayed him once more for Misty.
