"Likkle gyal yuh nah wake up fi come go school?" Was the first thing that my mother shouted from outside my bedroom door.

Without awaiting a response, she barged in all hot and heated.

As morning light she just vulga and annoying. Not even a likkle Good Morning mi one daughter, jah.

Lazily I got out of bed, side eyeing her as she looked at me, then at my messy bed.

Mi just wake, weh she expect?

"Wahm, yuh nah gah school?" She asked, as she continued to look around nosily.

How many times should I explain this to her?

"Mumz, a exam time now, if exam start 1pm yuh reach by 12:30, wah mi a go school suh early go do?" I asked annoyed.

"Muss me ago open the exam center." I thought stretching my lazy bones.

Could have sworn I heard a crick.

"You can stay deh inno, memba a Portmore we live and dem government bus yah run like a free drive we a beg. And besides it better yuh early than
late." She stated, bringing me out of my thoughts.

You can never win an argument with Jamaican parents, so I do what works all the time.

"Alright mommy, mi ago get ready." I said calmly.

Tell her exactly what she wants to hear.

The only stress I want on my brain today is that of the exam.

"Yuh betta cause mi nah come in yah again, after mi nuh alarm." She said, making her exit.

"You sure sound like one though with all that shouting." I mumbled.

"Atleast she cares." My subconscious stated.

"Yeah, Atleast she cares." I thought aloud.

My mother is one to always want to be early for everything. It's nothing bad but going to an event or place early just to sit and wait makes no sense to me, especially for school. I'm just gonna sit and look ina people mouth until the exam starts. And then mi nah nuh fren a school so mi ago just look like lonely dog.

Why couldn't my life be easier?

Sighing at that thought, I jumped back into bed to text my bestie Kia.

Hope she's up.

Kia has been my friend since primary school. She knows every about me....well everything weh mi want her to know, sometimes yuh fi keep certain things to yuh self.
