On our way to the hairdresser I realized that we are going more and more into the uptown area of Kingston Jamaica.
"A weh yah carry mi go mumz." I asked looking out at the big houses that we flew pass in the taxi.
"Dejah just sit pan yuh behind and wait till we get there." She murmerd.
She can be sooo rude at times, rolling my eyes I turned back around to look out the window.
After what felt like an eternity, we finally arrived. Getting out of the taxi and looking around yuh woulda think a foreign we deh.
"A wen dem big mall ya build up a Jamaica." I questioned walking behind my mother.
"If yuh did come out a the house more often yuh woulda know seh this build up wah day yah." She said walking briskly.
Nuh know weh she a walk so fast fah, after the mall nah run weh.
"And if yuh did let mi out more often,mi woulda know that ma'am." I ran her down to catch up with her.
"Alright Dejah yuh win." She sighed.
Decided not to say anything else to spoil the mood, I just followed her silently until we reached the salon. After we arrived, she pressed the buzzer and a lady escorted us in.
Going in and looking around, I can honestly say that I was impressed. The salon was modern and has a lot of anesthetic.
"This should be nice." I smiled, looking at myself in the ceiling mirror.
I've been doing my own hair for years, I'm just excited to get a change.
As I walked in I greated everybody with a good morning before sitting down in one of the waiting chairs.
"Wah kinda hairstyle yuh want?" My mom asked happily looking at me.
She inna good mood today, ago tek advantage a it.
"I want starter locks, like Kimalie's." I answered looking around in awe.
"Ohhh,so you and him a get serious, a yuh likkle boyfriend?" She laughed lowly.
A my business she wah nuff up herself ina ino,nah mek she know too much though.
"No" I blushed looking down at my hand.
"Whatever yuh seh Dejah, but I know that look,I looked at your father the same way many years ago, and look where that got me." She lecturered.
"So weh yah seh kimalie is like dad?" I asked confused.
She then sighed and sat up to look at me seriously.
"I'm not saying that, what I ment to say is I looked at your father like that many years ago because I was deep in love with him until I eventually lost myself and I don't want that to happen to you.
Just please for my sake, don't start loving him more than you love yourself, because when that happens you start to accept any treatment whether good or bad. It happened to me and I want to prevent it from happening to you." She said sincerely, using her hand to caress my cheek.
"Dejah Miller." The hairdresser called out signaling that it's my turn to get a bhaddie makeover.
This should be fun.... ......................................................................... I thought being at the hairdresser would be fun,but it's the most time consuming thing ever.
A lucky thing mi have patience. She do three different hair one time and by time she finally done with me it was 4pm in the afternoon, we were there from 12.
"I'm never coming back here." I whispered under my breathe as she made the finishing touches on my hair.
Even though she take long I must say she did her thing.
"You angle this girl." I said lowly at myself.
As I turned to my mom all I could see was shock.
"Mi look good don't." I laughed getting out of the chair, walking over to her.
"Beautiful." She chuckled touching my hair.
"So where to now." I asked sitting down as she went to pay for my hair.
"A boutique." She smiled to me knowily.
We're going shopping. ......................................................................... After we made it to the boutique my mom and I began walking around. And to be honest everything mi see mi like, everything just looks so good.
"Pick out a dress for tonight." She beamed with excitement as she took a seat in the waiting area.
"Wah go happen tonight." I asked looking at her expectantly.
"Nah tell yuh." She said turning her back to me.
"Rude much."I mumbled as I went around the boutique looking for a dress. Everything just looked so good,I couldn't chose.
"Hey miss you need any help?" A well dresses woman said walking up to me.
It look like she works here.
"Yes,yes I do." I confidently said looking around.
"What are you looking for?" She asked politely.
"It's my birthday and I want something that's gonna make me look exotic with shoes to match." I respond turning to look at her.
"What's your budget?" She asked interrogating me.
"I don't have one." I said turning my back at her to look at more dresses.
"Wait here." She said walking of towards a back closet.
A few minutes passed and she finally came back.
"Take a look at this." She smiled widely walking up to me.
As I opened the gold bag, the most beautiful dress peeped out at me. Looking up at the Lady I smiled brightly.
"Bag this up please."I said running to my mother.
"Yuh find something don't." She asked knowingly as she got up to pay.
"Yep." I laughed walking up to the cash register behind her.
I must say, the dress was expensive as shit, but I'm worth it so it balance out.
"Weh we a go now?" I asked tiredly walking behind my mother as we left the boutique.
