I sat at a table in the bar, bored out of my mind. Stefan and Nik got to have fun at least. They were interrogating Ray and all I had to do was focusing on not wanting the human blood bags sitting not even two feet away.
"C'mon Ray. All you have to do is tell us where your pack is, and we can let you go." Stefan tugged some darts out of Ray's face, making the wolf wince.
"I can't." He cried out.
That wolfsbane had to hurt.
I mindlessly traced a woman's forearm. It would be so easy to sink my teeth into her skin. While the arm wasn't typically where the most delicious blood was, it would definitely do.
"Hands off, Morgan." Nik wasn't even looking in my direction.
A woman entered the bar, making a beeline for Nik.
I kicked my feet up, spinning my ring around on my finger, still a little sullen that I'd only been able to drink one blood bag.
Stefan was acting very un-Stefanlike. The one I knew could barely stand the sight of a skinned knee, it was hard to see him as a ripper.
The ceiling fans spun lazily above us. They barely did a bloody thing for the smell.
"That guy's brother has been snooping around. He's close." The woman muttered in Nik's ear, as if we wouldn't be able to hear her.
"Thanks, love. Go on."
She nodded, and headed toward the door, as if she'd never come here at all.
Stefan's brow furrowed. "Damon again?"
"I'll have to take care of him." Nik made to move past him, but Stefan boldly grabbed his arm.
"No, let me." He let go, raising his hands in surrender.
I sat up. "I want to see Damon."
"Afraid it's not a social call, little one." Nik turned to Stefan. "Deal with him or I will."
"Nik, please. I'm so bored and this could be a bonding opportunity with Stefan."
His lips pursed. "Don't push. If you're so bored, there is a coffin you're entirely welcome to."
"Scared I'm gonna run?"
Nik sent Stefan an exasperated look. "Kids these days."
"I'll put wolfsbane in your toothpaste." I threw a salt shaker at him, which he predictably caught.
"Fine, go with Stefan. Know that if you do run..."
"I know, I know, you'll throw me in a coffin for a million years."
"No. Something much worse. You'll shadow me when I inevitably find you and there will be no Elijah to lie for you."
I threw my head back in annoyance. "You're never going to let that go."
"Not in your lifetime."
"Morgan. Are you coming or not." Stefan passed by me, jacket already in hand.
"Oh we're going right now?" I stood. "Where is Damon snooping?"
"Morgan." Nik called. "Remember our conversation from earlier." He gave me a look.
"If I run into any issues, I'll just come back."
"On second thought, perhaps it's not such a good idea to leave you two alone." Nik picked up the darts.
But I was so close to seeing that Damon was actually alright with my own eyes. "I need this. I'll keep it in check, I promise. I'll even go into recovery if I break."
His brows lifted in surprise. "That confident are we?"
Stefan glanced between us. "What are you talking about?"
"Yes."
"Alright, I'll allow it. Though I want hourly updates. Miss it, and I'll come find you." He dipped a dart into the wolfsbane mixture, careful not to touch it.
"Done." I grabbed Stefan's arm, quickly dragging him out of the bar before Nik could change his mind.
"What was that?" Stefan asked as soon as we stepped outside.
"Don't worry about it."
"That didn't seem like nothing, if Klaus wants hourly check ins."
"I said don't worry about it. It's none of your business." I set my hands on my hips. "Now how are we getting there?"
Stefan hesitated but thankfully shrugged. "I was planning on just running there."
"Ooh, no can do Stefano. It takes time to recover from the dagger."
He pulled out a set of keys. "Good thing Klaus isn't going anywhere until we get back."
I grinned. "Perfect."
