Stefan opened the door to the bar."What's got you in such a good mood."

Nik stood over Ray. He slit a line down his wrist, before forcing Ray to drink from him. "Now on to step two." He snapped the wolf's neck. His gaze found us as soon as we were close. "I take it you were successful."

"More than. Damon's agreed to stopping his search. He believes I can't be saved."

"And is he aware of Morgan's revival?"

"No. I didn't even get to see him." I crossed my arms. "Stefan made me stay in the car."

My phone buzzed, and I bit the inside of my lip to stop myself from smiling. That was definitely Tyler.

It was nice.

He didn't seem afraid of the fact that I was a Salvatore or a Mikaelson, which I appreciated.

Nik's eyes narrowed at me. "What are you hiding?"

"Nothing." Well that was in no way suspicious. "Why did you kill the wolf?" Better to get him ranting and distracted.

"I told you, I'm making hybrids."

"Yeah but this is an experiment right? What if he doesn't wake up."

Stefan's eyes widened at me.

"Some don't survive the transition into being a vampire." Nik continued on. "I imagine it's similar with would be hybrids. He did give up his pack's location and we'll be leaving shortly."

Nik grabbed Ray's arm, dragging him from the bar.

"What was that?" Stefan asked as soon as he was out of ear shot.

"What?"

"Klaus just lets you question him?"

"Uh no?" I laughed incredulously. "He lets me ask questions. There's a very important difference." That also doesn't mean he'll answer them. "Have you not been asking anything this entire time?"

"He really doesn't scare you?"

"Don't get me wrong, he's a scary motherfucker, but it's hard to truly fear a man I've seen draw mustaches on his sleeping brother because he thought it'd make me laugh."

Stefan's reaction was almost comical in the way his jaw dropped.

"Little one." Nik pushed the bar doors open. "Stop telling stories."

"They're not stories. I distinctly remember Kol trying to get you back for it." I crossed my arms, and he rolled his eyes.

"I happen to have a reputation to maintain."

"And it's my life's mission ruin it."

"Cheeky." Nik checked his phone. "It's time we were on our way."

Stefan dutifully began walking in the direction of the car. No objections or anything, he hardly looked in Nik's direction.

It always intrigued me when others interacted with the Mikaelsons. They were always so different.

Before I could even utter a word, Nik's hand was up. "You can nap in the car, there's already a spot made, just for you."

"Aww, you missed me. It's okay to admit it."

"About as much as a thorn in my side." He shot back.

"At least I'm entertaining."

"As entertaining as one can be when they are perpetually in their angst ridden teenage phase."

"Ha ha. You're hilarious my friend."

Nik held out his hands in surrender. "I'm not the one who chose this age for you."

"Kinda hard to wait when your entire family is already immortal. I don't regret my decision." Having friends growing up was damn near impossible. "But I am grateful that you guys didn't let me turn before I was eighteen." I would've. Being a vampire always seemed so much better.

"Let's go, little one." He jerked his head toward the door where Stefan had disappeared.

"When are we undaggering the others?"

"I'll wait until the time is right."

"But the reason Elijah was daggered was bullshit! You found out what you wanted to know anyway!"

"Elijah made his own choices. Just as you did." Nik had that look. The one that made me feel like he was seeing into my soul.

"That's what's been bothering me. What could have possibly happened in the time between my going to bed and waking up?"

He shrugged, frustratingly so. "That would be between Elijah and I."

"Why are you keeping secrets?"

"I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours." Nik challenged. "You're hiding something, little one, and I will find out what, eventually. I just hope for your sake it isn't like your last mistake."

My stomach dropped. "It's not, I swear. Don't be paranoid, Nik."

"And yet it's my paranoia that is usually correct."

"Please believe me, it's not what you're thinking." It's not even that I didn't want him to know I was talking to someone, it was that if Nik found out Tyler had touched me as he had, he would kill him.

Even if it was consensual.

"If you really don't believe me, then watch me. I'm not plotting your downfall."

He held a sweeping arm toward the door. "We have somewhere to be."
