"From this point on, assume I'm being watched. If they catch sight of any of you, they can and will either kill you or leverage you." I put my hands at the edge of the table in the kitchen, Bonnie sat not far from me, a phone between us.
A group call.
"How long will this take?" Elena sounded on edge.
"Until they give us back the Salvatore boys we know and love. Elijah is the one to worry about. Nik will relent before he does." Even though forcing his hand is never advisable. "Annoyingly, they think I've hit a rebellious phase."
"Do we really think that pushing the Originals is a good idea?" Caroline huffed over the shared line. "They're crazy."
"Just stay put. Remember, they won't stop at you. They can and will slaughter your family."
"Why are we caught up in a feud between you and them?" That would be Matt Donovan, the waiter from the Grill. I'd only barely found out he was a member of the squad when we were sending everyone underground.
"And why isn't Tyler part of the protected group?"
"Tyler isn't in any danger. As of this moment, he's the only hybrid." I glanced at Bonnie. "As for the feud situation, I'm trying to save your friends, my brothers, from my family, if that means we have to wait them out, we will."
"How do we stop Klaus from using Elena as a blood bag."
"One thing at a time, Jeremy." I had no plans of actually protecting Elena. She could die for all I care.
She was only useful for a time.
"We need to trust Morgan." Bonnie shifted in her seat. "She knows them better than anyone."
"I'll do what I can, but I can't release either of my brothers from their compulsion." I wish there was some kind of spell.
"We can't just stay hidden forever."
"You won't. That much I know. One side will give, and it's not going to be me."
"What about the town?" Liz Forbes.
"It'll be fine. I don't think this'll last more than a few days." While the Mikaelsons could be incredibly destructive, their hands were tied, and they knew it. "Just sit tight. Bonnie told me she's done a successful transport spell with small things so if you need anything, I'll get it and she can send it to you. The most important thing is to remember you are not dealing with Kathrine or any elder vampire you've ever met. These people are cunning, they're manipulative, and they are used to getting what they want."
"You make it sound hopeless." Elena was so irritatingly positive about the whole thing.
"That's because if they find you, that's what it'll be. Hopeless. This isn't a game."
I heard a noise from outside. There was someone else that spoke on the phone, but I was too focused on what was going on. "I'll have to call you guys back."
"What's wrong?"
I tapped the end call button, and held a finger to my lips, before speeding to the front door.
