Doing my hair was finally fun the next morning. I haven't been excited to do my hair in a long time. After searching the internet for a bit, I settled on a simple hairstyle. I put my hair up in the rollers for my front pieces, and with the pieces from behind my ear, I pull it back in a mini claw clip. The rest of the hair falls down behind my back, and I smile to myself.
Putting on makeup was exciting, even if it was one of the three products I only owned. After I do my makeup, which consists of only my eyelashes, some color on my cheeks, and lip gloss, I look even better than before. I walk down to the laundry room and grab the clothes I had washed just last night and put in the dryer before I went to sleep.
I pick up the light yellow top and make sure the zipper is fully undone in the back before I slip that on as well. Afterwards, I settled on a pair of jeans I had bought yesterday as well. Putting on the shoes I just bought yesterday is exciting as well. This one matched my outfit perfectly. I grab my backpack and head downstairs with a large grin.
"Wow, a princess." I hear the sound of my dad's voice as soon as I walk to the kitchen. I smile at the compliment and feel nervous as I go to grab my daily muffin. I was aware that it wasn't the most healthy, but I thought the milk I drank afterwards made up for it.
I turn to my dad, who says, "You bought those yesterday?"
"Yes," I answer him, and I cringe at the fact that I wasn't able to tell my dad about it yesterday. I had gotten home, and the exhaustion of the trip made me take my clothes off and slip into bed for my much-needed nap. I had felt energized afterward and had been busy with homework to remember about telling my dad.
I place my hand on the wrapper of the muffin and say, "I almost finished all of the money you gave me."
My dad waves me off and says, "That's fine. I gave you the amount because I was finally excited for you to be doing something for yourself."
I scrunch my eyes at not understanding what my dad meant, and my dad chuckles at me. I liked that he was finally able to laugh more easily now; I had missed him being happy. I had missed the time when he was positive and full of happiness. His character had dimmed for a bit after my mom's passing.
"You stopped caring about things, Daisy," my dad says with a smile that seemed rather sideways with the look in his eyes. "You chose to rather stay up in your room and go through your day uninterested than do something fun."
"I guess that's true," I say with a shrug, and my dad nods. He places a hand on my own and says, "And this was finally something you wanted to do. I was glad to help you out."
"Thank you, dad," I say to him earnestly, and he smiles at me. I thought my dad would not be happy with me changing and growing up in my appearance, but I found that he was the opposite of that. He was proud in the sense that I was finally doing things for myself.
That added to my confidence for the day. Nothing could put me down, not even my brother shaking his head when he saw me a while later. He had muttered something along the lines of me getting attention to myself and had shaken him off. He was just being the protective brother he knew to inherit for all the wrong reasons.

When lunch time rolls around, I am still in a good mood. Even though no one had noticed my transformation, I was still confident in the fact that I looked pretty. I'm getting my lunch when I hear a conversation with my name in it. I'm not sure if it's actually my name, but a second later, I feel a tap on my shoulder.
I hope I don't turn around fast, as I feel my hair hit me on the face. I find two girls standing behind me with a smile on their faces. The first one says, "Hi, um, Daisy, was it?"
